Firstly, an apology. If you are a Reigate customer and found us closed at various points this week, then let me apologise, not only for forgetting to let you know in last week’s email, but in any case for the inconvenience it may have caused you. We are having the whole shop rewired, and whilst the excellent fellows from 48 Four (Electrical Contractors)** started on Sunday, working long days, they couldn’t avoid considerable disruption to the business.

Secondly, there’s not really an email this week. I’m on holiday next week, so no email then either, and this week I was running out of time to write in any case, when Jeanne cracked a bone in her foot on Wednesday, which has since involved me in taking her to work and collecting her, Thursday and Friday. This just about put the mockers on any free time I had left.

What I did want to talk about was the link that a friend sent me to a TED talk by Brené Brown on the power of vulnerability*. The research she’s done is very interesting and she puts it across very well. So much so, in fact, that the talk has been viewed more than 62 million times… must have resonated with some! If you can’t wait to watch it, there’s a link here and I shall return to the subject another time.

*To her, “being vulnerable is not a weakness”. For her, “it’s an essential to wholehearted living”, as she puts it.

** The lads at 48 Four are a happy, knowledgeable, really nice bunch, who under the leadership of James and Joel have done very thorough and detailed work for us now, in all our locations. They come highly recommended!

In the meanwhile, to product… briefly.

Water Bottles Natural Life 750ml

We sell water bottles in a variety of sizes (300ml to 750ml), finishes (Glass, Plastic and Stainless Steel) and prices from £3.95 to £31.95. So, when we were offered these 750ml Double Walled Insulated Bottles that we could sell for £12.99, I thought they were a bit of a bargain.

There’s not a lot to say about a water bottle, as long as it’s waterproof, so what else can I tell you about them. Well, they are large, at 750ml (that’s a pint and a third(ish) capacity), they are water proof (hooray), insulated, so heat retaining for 6 hours (cold 12 hours), have a composite Bamboo and Stainless Steel screw lid, and a Hanging Loop built into the lid. They are available in five colours, Green, Pink, Blue, Slate and Stone. And are well priced at £12.99.

For this weekend I’m doing them at £9.49.

Use Code WATBOT949 if shopping online or tell us who you are if shopping in Reigate or Cobham.

So, that’s it for this week. The last word goes to Milan Kundera, a Czech novelist, (in case like me you’d not come cross him before), who died a couple of weeks ago, said this….

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring – it was peace.”
Milan Kundera, quoted in The Times

What a lovely turn of phrase and picture painted.

I hope you have an enjoyable and peaceful weekend.

Kind regards

Andrew
