Care

  • Before first use: Wash in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Remove the lid, fill with clean water, boil, then discard the water before first proper use. Don't fill above the marked line.
  • Using the foldable handle: Make sure the handle is firmly in the upright position before placing the kettle on the heat, to avoid it overheating. Close the lid tightly to help keep the handle safe from steam.
  • General use: Use the most appropriately sized hob ring to avoid damage or overheating. Don't allow the kettle to boil dry. Turn off the heat as soon as the water starts boiling, and never rely solely on an induction hob's automatic switch-off. Always make sure the spout and lid indentations point away from you and others.
  • Glass hobs: Lift the kettle on and off, or across the surface, rather than sliding it, to avoid damaging the base or the hob.
  • Pouring: Wait 10-15 seconds after boiling before removing the kettle from the heat, then pour. Never tip the kettle upside down, and make sure the lid knob is pressed firmly down.
  • Washing: Handwash with a neutral detergent after each use. Never use abrasive scrubbers or detergents. Dry thoroughly to prevent mineral deposits, and don't leave water sitting in the kettle when it's not in use.
  • Removing mineral deposits: Fill to the maximum mark with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar, and simmer for 20 minutes. Use a gentle descaler if deposits persist.
  • Refilling: Allow the kettle to cool thoroughly before refilling with cold water.

Questions and Answers

Q: Is it dishwasher safe?
A: No, this kettle should be handwashed.

Q: Is it suitable for induction hobs?

Q: Do I need to do anything before using it for the first time?
A: Yes, remove the lid, fill the kettle with clean water, boil it, then discard the water before using it properly for the first time.

Q: How do I remove mineral deposits or limescale?
A: Fill the kettle to the maximum mark with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar, and let it simmer for 20 minutes. If deposits persist, use a gentle descaler.
