Le Creuset Stoneware Cafetiere - French Press Excellence in Colour
Le Creuset brings their legendary craftsmanship and enamelling expertise to the humble cafetiere, creating a brewing vessel that performs as beautifully as it looks. The 1L capacity makes this ideal for households or entertaining, serving 4-5 standard mugs of rich, full-bodied coffee or loose leaf tea. This isn't simply a glass cafetiere in a coloured coating – it's genuine Le Creuset stoneware, crafted from specialist clays and fired at the highest temperatures to create exceptional strength and thermal performance.
The dense stoneware construction delivers genuine brewing advantages:
- Superior Thermal Retention: Dense stoneware maintains even temperature throughout brewing and keeps coffee hotter for significantly longer than glass alternatives
- Exceptional Durability: Resistant to chips, cracks, and thermal shock, backed by Le Creuset's 10-year guarantee – far outlasting typical glass cafetieres
- Scratch-Resistant Glaze: Le Creuset's renowned enamelling creates a non-porous, easy-clean surface that resists staining and scratching
- Extreme Temperature Tolerance: Thermoresistant from -23°C to +260°C, suitable for cold brew preparation and freezer storage
- Stainless Steel Press: Professional metal plunger with fine mesh sieve for optimal extraction and filtering

What Customers Ask About the Le Creuset Stoneware Cafetiere
Yes, the metal press system works effectively for both coarsely ground coffee and loose leaf tea. The mesh sieve filters either medium whilst allowing full flavour extraction through direct water contact.
Le Creuset stoneware offers superior thermal retention compared to glass, maintaining your coffee at optimal temperature for longer. The dense stoneware is also significantly more durable and resistant to chips and cracks, backed by a 10-year guarantee. Glass cafetieres typically last 1-3 years with regular use.
The 1L capacity typically serves 4-5 standard mugs (approximately 200ml each) or 6-7 smaller cups. This makes it ideal for households or when entertaining guests.
Yes, the excellent thermal retention means the exterior will be hot after brewing. Always use the handle when pouring and allow adequate cooling time before handling the body directly.
Yes, Le Creuset stoneware is freezer compatible and thermoresistant from -23°C to +260°C. This makes it suitable for cold brew coffee preparation, though you should allow gradual temperature changes rather than extreme shifts.
Availability varies by colour as Le Creuset produces seasonal ranges and some colours may be discontinued or temporarily out of stock. Contact us to confirm availability of specific colours before ordering.
Yes, both the stoneware body and the metal press mechanism are dishwasher safe. Run a full cycle and ensure the mesh sieve is thoroughly cleaned of coffee grounds or tea leaves.
Stoneware vs Glass Cafetieres
Why Choose Stoneware?
Glass cafetieres are affordable and allow you to watch the brewing process, but they're fragile and lose heat quickly. Le Creuset stoneware offers superior thermal retention, maintaining optimal brewing temperature and keeping coffee hotter for serving. The dense material is significantly more resistant to thermal shock, chips, and breakage. Whilst glass cafetieres typically last 1-3 years with daily use, Le Creuset stoneware is designed for decades of service with proper care.
When Glass Might Suit Better
If you're very budget-conscious or specifically want to observe the brewing process visually, a glass cafetiere may be adequate. However, the superior durability and thermal performance of stoneware typically provides better long-term value.

Care & Use Instructions
Before First Use: Remove all labels and packaging. Wash the cafetiere in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. This removes any manufacturing residue.
Daily Cleaning: Allow the cafetiere to cool before cleaning. Both the stoneware body and metal press are dishwasher safe – run a full cycle for thorough cleaning. Alternatively, wash by hand in warm, soapy water. Ensure all coffee grounds or tea leaves are removed from the mesh sieve.
For Best Brewing Results: Use coarsely ground coffee beans for optimal extraction. Add coffee to the empty cafetiere, pour in boiling water, stir gently, then place the plunger on top without pressing. Allow to steep for 4 minutes, then slowly press the plunger down. For loose leaf tea, steep for 3-5 minutes depending on leaf type.
Handling Hot Stoneware: Always use oven gloves or the handle when the cafetiere contains hot liquid. The excellent thermal retention means the body will remain hot to touch for some time after brewing.
Storage: Store with the plunger raised to allow air circulation. The stoneware is freezer compatible if you wish to prepare cold brew coffee.
