These Riedel Vinum Brunello Glasses have been especially designed to get the very most from this Tuscan favourite. Brunello di Montalcino is undoubtedly considered to be one of Italy's most prestigious wines and the DOCG rules, which require the wine to spend a minimum of four years in barrels, result in flavors which are very different to modern fruit-dominated wines.
Even when young, Brunello di Montalcino has an amber color and a surprisingly mature bouquet, somewhat reminiscent of cherries and port. On the palate it is soft and well balanced with firm tannins and a long finish.
This glass, developed with the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, was the first Riedel glass to be officially designed for a wine region. In evaluating different glasses, it was the character of the wine itself which led experts to arrive at the final shape.
The bowl of Riedel's Chianti Classico glass was generally considered not big enough to appreciate Brunello's rich aromas. Even though the two regions are adjacent and the grape variety similar, the appropriate glass shapes for the wines are very different. Although Riedel's Bordeaux glass tended to emphasize oak and not enough fruit by virtue of the diameter of the rim, the panel agreed that the bouquet and taste of Brunello could be fully appreciated. hence it has been possible to emphasize the typical aromas, taste and harmonious balance by fine-tuning these Riedel Vinum Brunello Glasses
