Mills Care
Daily cleaning: Clean the exterior of both mills with a dry microfibre cloth after use. For stubborn marks, dampen the cloth slightly and dry the mills immediately. Never submerge the mills in water or place them in the dishwasher, as this will damage the internal grinding mechanisms.
Refilling: Both mills feature top-fill designs. Simply unscrew the top of each mill to add peppercorns (approximately 50g for pepper) or coarse sea salt (approximately 100g for salt). Do not use fine table salt in the salt mill as it will not grind properly.
Adjusting grind size: Turn the grey adjusting wheel at the top of each mill. Tightening creates a finer grind, whilst loosening produces a coarser grind. Adjust according to your cooking or serving needs.
Cleaning between spices: If you wish to switch contents in either mill, empty the existing spice, add a tablespoon of coarse salt, adjust the grinder to fine, and grind until no more salt emerges. Remove any excess salt before adding new contents.
Deep cleaning the mechanisms: For thorough cleaning, unscrew the grey adjusting wheel on each mill and carefully remove the ceramic cone, ensuring the spring stays securely in place. Wipe loose dust from the cone with a cloth or brush, then wash in water. Dry thoroughly before replacing - any moisture can affect grinding performance.
