Joseph Joseph Caddy Sink Drainer / Organiser Sage
The Joseph Joseph Caddy addresses the common problem of cluttered sink areas where washing-up liquid bottles, brushes, and damp sponges accumulate on worktops and draining boards. This compact organiser (19.5cm wide) consolidates your sink-side essentials in one contained unit with a concealed reservoir that collects drained water, preventing puddles on your work surface.
The design divides storage into dedicated zones: a main compartment sized for standard washing-up liquid bottles and brushes, a raised rail for hanging and drying dishcloths, and a sponge plate with drainage holes for wet scourers and sponges. The entire unit dismantles for thorough cleaning when needed.
Key features:
- Contained drainage: Concealed reservoir collects water from wet items, eliminating drips and puddles on worktops
- Multiple storage zones: Main compartment holds washing-up liquid and brush; separate areas for sponges and dishcloths
- Space-efficient design: Compact footprint (19.5 x 13.5cm) suits most sink areas without dominating limited worktop space
- Integrated drying rail: Allows dishcloths to hang and air-dry between uses, reducing bacterial growth
- Easy maintenance: Fully dismantles for thorough cleaning; dishwasher safe
- BPA-free construction: Safe for use around food preparation areas
This organiser suits anyone wanting to contain sink-area clutter whilst maintaining easy access to frequently used washing-up items.
What Customers Ask About Joseph Joseph Caddy
Will a large washing-up liquid bottle fit?
The main compartment is designed to accommodate standard washing-up liquid bottles, typically up to 750ml-1 litre size. Most major UK brands including Fairy, Ecover, and Method bottles fit comfortably. Measure your preferred bottle if it's unusually tall or wide – the caddy's internal dimensions are approximately 10cm height in the main compartment.
How do you empty the drainage reservoir?
The caddy dismantles for cleaning, allowing you to access and empty the concealed reservoir. Joseph Joseph designed it to be easily separated into components – lift the upper sections to reveal the base reservoir, tip out collected water, rinse, and reassemble. For daily use, the reservoir typically needs emptying every few days depending on usage.
Does it need to sit directly next to the sink?
No, the Caddy can be positioned anywhere on your worktop where it's convenient. Whilst many users place it beside the sink for easy access whilst washing up, the concealed reservoir means it won't leak if positioned elsewhere. The compact dimensions (19.5 x 13.5cm footprint) allow flexibility in placement.
Will sponges actually dry in the sponge plate?
The sponge plate features drainage holes that allow water to drip into the reservoir below rather than pooling around the sponge. This promotes faster drying than leaving sponges in a solid dish. However, complete drying depends on your kitchen's ventilation and how wet the sponge is when placed in the caddy. Wringing out excess water before storing helps.
Can you use it for sink-side hand soap instead?
Yes, the Caddy works equally well for bathroom or utility room organisation. The main compartment holds hand soap bottles, whilst the other sections can store hand towels and soap bars. The concealed reservoir prevents water damage to bathroom surfaces just as effectively as it does in the kitchen.

Care & Use Instructions
Regular maintenance: Empty the concealed reservoir every few days, or when you notice it filling. Dismantle the caddy by lifting the upper sections away from the base to access the reservoir. Rinse the reservoir with warm water and allow to dry before reassembling.
Dishwasher cleaning: The entire caddy is dishwasher safe. Dismantle completely before placing components in the dishwasher. Position pieces securely on the top rack to prevent them moving during the wash cycle. This deep-cleaning approach is suitable for monthly or as-needed thorough cleaning.
Handwashing: For routine cleaning, wash components with warm soapy water. Pay particular attention to the sponge plate's drainage holes and the areas where water collects. Use a small brush if needed to clean narrow gaps. Rinse thoroughly and allow all parts to dry before reassembling.
Preventing odours: Empty the reservoir regularly rather than allowing water to sit for extended periods. If you notice any odours developing, dismantle the caddy completely and clean all components with a solution of warm water and white vinegar, then rinse thoroughly.
Storage: If not using the caddy for an extended period, clean and dry all components thoroughly before storing. Store dismantled or assembled depending on your cupboard space – the compact dimensions work either way.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I've used it and don't like it?
Return it anyway. Our no quibble guarantee covers used items - if it doesn't do what you wanted, we'll refund you. This applies even after you've used the caddy in your sink area.
How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?
Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally damage the caddy, we'll replace it at half price with proof of purchase and evidence of damage. Photos are acceptable as evidence.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take up to 7 working days, but is usually 3-4, and is free for orders over £49. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
Is the sage colour a true green?
Sage is a muted, greyish-green shade popular in contemporary kitchen design. It's softer and more neutral than bright green, coordinating well with both modern and traditional colour schemes. If precise colour matching is critical for your kitchen, check the product images or contact us before purchasing.
Can replacement parts be purchased separately?
Joseph Joseph typically sells the Caddy as a complete unit. If a component breaks within 2 years of purchase, our Half-Price Replacement guarantee offers the most cost-effective solution. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Will this prevent my sponge from going smelly?
The drainage system helps by preventing sponges sitting in pooled water, but sponges will still develop odours if not replaced regularly. For best hygiene, wring out sponges thoroughly before placing them in the caddy, allow them to air-dry between uses, and replace sponges every 1-2 weeks depending on usage frequency.
Does water leak from the reservoir?
When properly assembled, the reservoir is contained within the base and doesn't leak. Water only escapes if the reservoir becomes overfull (empty it regularly) or if components aren't correctly seated together. Check that all parts click or sit firmly in place after cleaning.
Is it stable enough not to tip over?
The base provides stability for typical use, but like any lightweight organiser, it can tip if knocked forcefully or if weight is distributed unevenly. Position it away from high-traffic areas where it might be bumped. The compact footprint and low centre of gravity promote stability during normal sink-side use.
