The Riedel Superleggero Spirits Glass is perfect for harmonising the aroma and the taste of spirits, tempering the alcohol and the stringency of the palate and emphasizing the bouquet. It is a machine-made version of the old handmade Superleggero.
The slim, flute-shaped bowl allows its contents a very small evaporation surface.
The motivation to replace the original lies in the perfection of a machine-made glass compared to handmade. As Riedel glasses are finely tuned instruments that support wine enjoyment, it is essential that there is no variation in the design of the goblet and mouth rim diameter, as this is key to the varietal-specific philosophy.
The machine production of such a light and perfectly balanced glass was not previously possible, with existing technology. As a result, a machine was developed in-house that is capable of producing glasses to a quality indistinguishable from handmade. According to Riedel, the design of the new base plates with a diameter of up to 106 mm sets a new technical standard.
