The Graef TO100 is a well-thought-out 4-slice toaster built for households that take breakfast seriously. Its two wide slots accommodate standard toast and larger American-style sandwiches, and four individual heating elements mean each slice browns evenly without relying on one element to do the work of two. The heat-insulated stainless steel and aluminium housing stays cool to the touch during use, and small details like the extra-lift mechanism, bread-slice centring, and cable rewind show that Graef has considered the everyday practicalities. If you regularly toast for a family or frequently host brunches, this is a toaster built to keep up.
- 4 individual heating elements: Each of the four slots has its own heating element, ensuring consistent browning across every slice rather than relying on shared heat.
- Extra-lift mechanism: Raises the toast higher than a standard carriage lift, making it easier to remove shorter slices without burning your fingers.
- Defrost and stop functions: The defrost setting adjusts the toasting cycle for frozen bread, whilst the stop button lets you interrupt the cycle at any point.
- Separate bun attachment: An included warming rack sits on top of the toaster and heats rolls or buns gently without toasting them directly in the slots.
- Heat-insulated housing: The aluminium and stainless steel casing is designed to stay cool on the outside during use, in line with current thermal insulation standards.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Will this fit thicker bread like sourdough or bloomer slices?
The slots measure 30mm wide, which suits standard sandwich bread and most supermarket loaves. Very thick artisan slices may not fit comfortably, so it is worth checking against your usual bread before buying.
What does the bun attachment actually do?
It is a warming rack that sits on top of the toaster and uses the rising heat from the slots to warm rolls or buns. It does not toast them directly, so they come out warmed and slightly crisped on the outside rather than toasted through.
Does the crumb tray remove easily for cleaning?
Yes, the stainless steel crumb tray pulls out and has a push function to help dislodge crumbs. It is worth emptying it regularly to prevent any build-up near the heating elements.
In our experience...
Slot width matters more than most people expect. The 30mm slots on the TO100 are standard for a quality toaster, but if your household eats thick-cut bread or seeded bloomer slices regularly, check the measurements before buying. Cramming bread into a too-narrow slot affects browning and can damage the heating elements over time.
Four-slice toasters are not just for big families. If you make toast in batches because a two-slicer slows down your morning routine, a four-slice model changes things significantly. Toasting two rounds simultaneously rather than sequentially saves time every single day.
The defrost function is genuinely useful. Toasting directly from frozen is something many people do not think about until they try it. The defrost cycle adjusts timing to account for the frozen core, producing a result much closer to fresh toast than the standard setting does.
A bun attachment is one of those things you use more than you expect. It seems like a minor extra, but having somewhere to warm a roll whilst the toast cooks below it means breakfast or brunch comes together without running two separate appliances.
Cable rewind is a small feature that makes a real difference. In a busy kitchen where the toaster gets moved around or stored between uses, being able to tuck the cable away neatly keeps the worktop tidier and reduces wear on the cable over time.

Care & Use Instructions

Exterior cleaning: Wipe the housing with a damp cloth when cold. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers on the stainless steel finish.
Bun attachment: The bun warming rack can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Allow it to cool fully before cleaning or storing.
What to avoid: Never immerse the toaster in water or place it in a dishwasher. Do not use the toaster if crumbs have built up to a level where they could contact the heating elements.
