Art of Living - Core Values

Our core values are the root values and beliefs which form the basis on which we operate, they tell you the kind of company you are dealing with and whether we as a retailer match your values, but also sets the standards in terms of your experience with us. You should be able to match your experience against our values.

The reason we originally wanted to be able to articulate our values was because we felt it would help us in our recruitment and selection process. We are fussy, actually very fussy (and demanding) about who we ask to join our teams, as employing the wrong person is an expensive, emotionally exhausting exercise. So, we wanted to be able to voice precisely what we were looking for. And from the candidate’s perspective, we wanted it to be clear for them, what they could expect from us. The more we considered our core values, the more we realised their meaning and impact could be much more powerful.

It is said that you don’t need to ‘set’ core values, you need to ‘discover’ what they are, and so that is what we set out to do, and this is what we discovered:
