Quick Overview: Vintage-style leather bike cup holder clips to handlebars - spring steel and leather construction holds coffee cups during gentle rides or whilst stationary.

Kikkerland Leather Bike Cup Holder

This vintage-inspired cup holder attaches to bicycle handlebars via a spring steel clip, whilst a leather strap secures standard coffee cups during leisurely rides or whilst your bike is stationary. The design addresses the practical challenge faced by urban cyclists who collect coffee en route or enjoy refreshments during park rides - carrying cups in hand whilst cycling is awkward and potentially unsafe, whilst backpack storage risks spills.

The combination of spring steel and leather creates both functional utility and aesthetic appeal that suits classic, vintage, or urban bicycles. The spring steel clip provides secure handlebar attachment without requiring tools, whilst the leather strap accommodates the slight diameter variations found in disposable coffee cups and standard travel mugs. The holder's vintage styling offers an alternative to plastic bottle cages, appealing to cyclists who value aesthetics alongside functionality. Key features include:

  • Spring steel clip: Attaches securely to standard handlebars without tools
  • Leather strap: Holds cups snugly whilst accommodating different diameters
  • Vintage aesthetic: Classic materials complement traditional bicycle styling
  • Easy installation: Clip-on design allows quick attachment and removal
  • Standard cup compatibility: Designed for disposable coffee cups and similar travel mugs
  • Compact dimensions: 11.4cm size doesn't interfere with handlebar controls

This is designed for urban cyclists who collect coffee during commutes, leisure cyclists enjoying gentle park or towpath rides, or anyone with vintage or classic bicycles seeking accessories that match their bike's aesthetic. It's best suited for careful cycling on smooth surfaces rather than vigorous riding or rough terrain.

What Customers Ask About the Leather Bike Cup Holder

What size cups will this hold?

The leather strap is designed to hold standard disposable coffee cups and similar-sized travel mugs. Very large travel mugs or wide ceramic mugs may not fit securely. Measure your preferred cup diameter to verify compatibility - the strap needs to wrap around and hold snugly.

Will this fit my handlebars?

The spring steel clip is designed to fit standard bicycle handlebars. Most road bikes, city bikes, and hybrid bikes have compatible handlebar diameters. Very thick handlebars on some mountain bikes or very thin handlebars on vintage bikes may not work. Check your handlebar diameter if you have an unusual bicycle type.

Is this secure enough for cycling or just for when stationary?

This is designed primarily for holding drinks whilst stationary or cycling very gently on smooth surfaces. The leather strap holds cups, but sudden movements, bumps, or leaning the bike can cause spills. It's best suited for short, careful rides on smooth paths rather than vigorous cycling or rough terrain.

Will the leather get damaged by rain?

Leather can be damaged by prolonged water exposure. If caught in rain, dry the holder thoroughly afterwards. Consider treating the leather with a protective conditioner designed for leather goods. For frequent all-weather cycling, a waterproof cup holder might be more practical.

Can I leave this attached to my bike permanently?

You can, but the leather will deteriorate faster if exposed to weather, sun, and temperature changes when stored outdoors. The spring steel may also rust if exposed to moisture. For longest lifespan, remove when not in use or when storing your bike outdoors.

Does this work with bikes that have gear shifters on the handlebars?

Placement depends on your handlebar setup. You'll need a section of clear handlebar without shifters, brake levers, or other attachments. The holder works best on straight handlebar sections. Check you have sufficient clear space before ordering if your handlebars are crowded with controls.

Care & Use Instructions

Installation: Position the spring steel clip on a clear section of handlebar, away from brake levers, gear shifters, and other controls. Squeeze the clip open and slide it onto the handlebar, then release to grip. Ensure it's secure before placing any cup in the holder.

Using with cups: Place your cup in the holder and wrap the leather strap around it, securing the strap closure. Test that the cup is held firmly before cycling. Use lids on cups to minimise spill risk. Start cycling gently to assess stability before picking up speed.

Riding considerations: This holder is designed for careful cycling on smooth surfaces. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, or riding over bumps that might dislodge the cup. Consider it most suitable for short distances on cycle paths, parks, or quiet streets rather than busy traffic or rough terrain.

Protecting the leather: Leather requires protection from moisture. If caught in rain, remove the holder when you reach your destination and dry both the leather and steel components thoroughly. Consider treating the leather with a leather conditioner or protective spray designed for leather goods.

Cleaning: Wipe the leather with a barely damp cloth to remove dirt or coffee spills, then dry immediately. For the spring steel, wipe with a damp cloth and dry to prevent rust. Never soak or submerge the holder in water.

Storage: When not in use, store in a dry location indoors. If leaving attached to your bike, bring the bike inside or at least under cover to protect the leather and steel from weather exposure. Remove the holder if storing your bike outdoors for extended periods.

Maintaining the steel clip: Check periodically for rust, particularly if the holder has been exposed to rain. If surface rust appears, remove it with fine steel wool and consider applying a thin coat of oil to prevent further corrosion. Ensure the clip maintains its spring tension for secure handlebar attachment.

Avoid: Vigorous cycling or rough terrain that will cause spills. Leaving attached to bikes stored outdoors in all weather. Submerging in water or prolonged exposure to rain without drying afterwards. Using with very hot drinks that might damage the leather or cause severe burns if spilled. Overloading with cups larger or heavier than the design intends.
