Honing Steel for exceptional honing of your knives. Even high-quality knives, such as those made by WÜSTHOF, gradually dull due to use, so a honing steel should be used regularly to compensate. A few strokes of both sides of the knife over the honing steel will help you maintain the sharpness of a good blade. We recommend using a Diamond Steel or a Ceramic Steel to restore the sharpness of particularly blunt knives.
- Exceptional honing: Keeps a good blade's edge maintained between sharpening sessions.
- Simple technique: A few strokes of both sides of the knife is all it takes.
- 26cm length: Genuine reach for honing longer blades comfortably.
- Forged in Solingen, Germany: Over 200 years of knife-making expertise.
What Customers Ask About This Product
How often should I use it?
Regularly, since even high-quality knives gradually dull with use, and a honing steel helps compensate for that.
Will this sharpen a very blunt knife?
A honing steel maintains an already good edge, but for restoring sharpness to a particularly blunt knife, a Diamond Steel or Ceramic Steel is recommended instead.
How do I clean it?
Wipe gently with a damp cloth and immediately towel-dry.
In our experience...
Honing and sharpening are genuinely different processes. Honing realigns an existing edge that's gone slightly out of true, while sharpening actually removes metal to create a new edge, which is why a honing steel alone won't fix a truly blunt knife.
Regular honing is what keeps sharpening sessions less frequent. Maintaining the edge between uses means the blade needs a full resharpen far less often.
