Quick Overview: The Student Kitchen Essentials Bundle is a complete kitchen starter kit for university life, with a Single set for one or a Double set built for sharing.

Heading off to university, or watching a loved one vanish into the student wilds of halls, where the parental fear is that dinner is a Pot Noodle eaten with a biro? This set is the difference between "what's the number for Deliveroo" and "I can actually cook a meal, yay!" This comprehensive 23-piece kitchen set transforms any student accommodation into a fully functional cooking space, designed specifically for first-time independent living, with everything needed to go from ready meals to proper home cooking. Choose the Single set for one person, or the Double set, which adds extra crockery and cutlery for sharing a kitchen or entertaining flatmates.

  • Essential cookware: The Kuhn Rikon Classic 3 Piece Cookware Set (an 18/10 stainless steel saucepan and casserole with glass lids, plus a non-stick frying pan) tackles everything from pasta to a fry-up, the Tala Performance non-stick 35cm baking tray handles oven bakes and roasted vegetables, and the Dexam 3.5L stainless steel mixing bowl covers everything from batter to salads.
  • Coordinated dining set: The Mikasa Chalk white porcelain collection (cereal bowl, dinner plate and mug) gives a stylish, neutral place setting that works for breakfast through to dinner, paired with Grunwerg Windsor stainless steel cutlery (tea spoon, dessert spoon, table fork and table knife) for a genuinely complete table setting.
  • Smart kitchen tools: A Joseph Joseph Pivot 3-in-1 can opener, an OXO Good Grips Y-peeler, a Zyliss wheatstraw slotted turner and serving spoon, a Chef Aid beech wood spoon, and Chef Aid black nylon tongs cover daily cooking tasks, while the Chef Aid chopping board and pine knife block set add everyday kitchen organisation.
  • University-ready extras: A Lock & Lock 800ml container keeps leftovers fresh, a Dexam Sintra recycled cotton waffle tea towel and a CKS dish brush with detergent dispenser handle everyday cleaning, a WM Bartleet & Sons porcelain salt and pepper set covers seasoning, and a KitchenCraft pack of 20 bag clips keeps snacks and store cupboard bags sealed.
  • Single or Double: The Double set includes two of each Mikasa Chalk piece and two of each Grunwerg Windsor cutlery piece, for a proper two-person table setting. Every other item stays at one per set, since it's built for shared cooking and storage rather than shared eating.

What Customers Ask About This Product

What's the difference between the Single and Double set?

The Double set includes two of each Mikasa Chalk tableware piece (bowl, plate and mug) and two of each Grunwerg Windsor cutlery piece (tea spoon, dessert spoon, fork and knife), for a two-person table setting. Every other item in the bundle, including all the cookware, tools and storage pieces, stays at one per set regardless of which you choose.

Is this suitable for a shared kitchen?

Yes, especially the Double set, since the extra tableware and cutlery are specifically there for sharing a kitchen or having a flatmate round.

Do I need anything else to start cooking?

This set is designed to cover everything needed to go from ready meals to proper home cooking, from cookware and tools through to tableware and storage.

In our experience...

The Double set adds people, not more kitchen kit. Doubling up only the tableware and cutlery, rather than every item, reflects that most students share a kitchen with several people but don't need three saucepans or three chopping boards between them.

Coordinated tableware makes a shared kitchen feel less chaotic. A single neutral Mikasa Chalk design across bowls, plates and mugs means mismatched, mystery crockery doesn't build up in the cupboard over the year.

The tools were chosen for daily use, not novelty. A can opener, peeler, turner, serving spoon and tongs cover the genuine basics of cooking from scratch, rather than gadgets that end up unused in a drawer.

Non-stick pieces last longer with a bit of care. Handwashing the frying pan, baking tray and wooden spoon rather than relying on the dishwasher every time helps them hold up over a full university year.

Care & Use Instructions

Dishwasher safe pieces: Most of the bundle, including the Kuhn Rikon saucepan and casserole, Mikasa Chalk tableware, Grunwerg Windsor cutlery, mixing bowl, peeler, Zyliss utensils, tongs, dish brush, bag clips, chopping board and storage container, can go straight in the dishwasher.

Handwash recommended: The Kuhn Rikon frying pan, Tala baking tray, and beech wood spoon will last longer with handwashing rather than regular dishwasher use, to protect their non-stick coatings and the wood.

Knife block & knives: To clean the knife block, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water as the wood will split. Knives should always be hand washed as dishwashers can chip and blunt knives easily.

Tea towel: Machine washable.

Return it anyway. Our no-quibble guarantee covers used items. If it's not right for you, get in touch and we'll sort out a refund.

How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take 5-7 working days (but is usually much quicker than that), and it's free on orders over £49. Next day delivery is available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.

Can I collect this item instead of having it delivered?

Yes. You can collect from our Reigate shop (72 High Street, RH2 9AP), our Cobham shop (16 Anyards Road, KT11 2JZ), or our warehouse in Redhill (40 Ormside Way, RH1 2LW). Just select click and collect at checkout. If the option isn't available, this is because there isn't enough stock in your selected collection location. Please get in touch and we can organise stock to be transferred to the right place.

International Delivery

Republic of Ireland & Europe

Currently suspended:

It is not currently possible to deliver to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe. We hope to reinstate this service as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.

Other Destinations

If your desired country or region is not listed, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
