The Risotto Plus is built around one genuinely clever idea: stir-free risotto. Rather than standing over the hob, you add your ingredients and let the machine handle it. But it goes well beyond that one function, with slow cooking, steaming, sautéing, and rice and quinoa all covered by the same appliance. The ceramic-coated cooking bowl is PTFE and PFOA free, and doubles as a serving bowl to keep washing up to a minimum. An automatic keep warm function kicks in once cooking is finished, so the food is ready when you are rather than the other way around.
- Hands-free risotto: The machine is engineered to cook risotto without stirring, handling the process automatically so you don't need to stand over it.
- Six cooking functions: Risotto, rice, steam, sauté, slow cook on low and high, and auto keep warm are all available from a single appliance.
- PTFE and PFOA free ceramic coating: The aluminium cooking bowl has a ceramic non-stick coating that is free from PTFE and PFOA, and is designed to double as a serving bowl.
- Steaming tray included: A stainless steel steaming tray is included for cooking vegetables, poultry, and seafood above the main bowl.
- Automatic keep warm: Once rice or risotto has finished cooking, the keep warm function activates automatically so the food stays at serving temperature until you're ready.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Can it cook more than just risotto and rice?
Yes, it has six cooking modes in total: risotto, rice, steam, sauté, slow cook on low and high, and auto keep warm. It handles quinoa as well as rice, and the steaming function works for vegetables, poultry, and seafood. The sauté function lets you brown ingredients directly in the bowl before switching to another mode.
How much can it cook at once?
The bowl has a maximum capacity of 3.7 litres. For rice, the usable range is between 300g and 1.5kg of white rice. The minimum volume is 300g of white rice with 360ml of water, so it works for smaller portions as well as larger ones.
Is the cooking bowl dishwasher safe?
Sage has not confirmed dishwasher safety for the cooking bowl in the product specifications, so we'd recommend checking the manual before putting it in the dishwasher. The non-stick ceramic coating is best preserved by hand washing with a soft cloth or sponge.
Does the keep warm function work for slow-cooked dishes too?
According to the product specifications, the auto keep warm function activates automatically after rice and risotto are finished cooking. For other functions such as slow cook, we'd recommend checking the manual for confirmation on whether keep warm applies.
In our experience...
Sautéing first makes a real difference to flavour. Taking a few minutes to brown onions, garlic, or meat directly in the bowl before switching to slow cook or risotto mode builds a depth of flavour that you don't get from adding raw ingredients cold. It's the step most people skip and most often notice the absence of.
Rice cookers are more precise than a hob. A dedicated rice cooking mode takes the guesswork out of water ratios and timing. The result is more consistent than most hob methods, particularly for varieties like jasmine or basmati where getting the ratio slightly wrong makes a noticeable difference.
Slow cooking benefits from a little liquid restraint. Unlike a hob or oven, a slow cooker traps moisture rather than letting it evaporate. Recipes written for the hob often need less liquid when adapted for slow cooking, or the result ends up thinner than intended.
Steaming preserves more than boiling does. Cooking vegetables over water rather than in it retains more vitamins and keeps textures firmer. It's a small change in method that makes a noticeable difference, particularly with greens that go soft and dull when boiled.
Keep warm is useful but has limits. Auto keep warm is genuinely handy for timing meals around other things, but leaving food on warm for extended periods can overcook delicate dishes or dry out rice. It's best used for up to an hour rather than as an indefinite holding mode.

Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Wash the cooking bowl, steaming tray, measuring cup, and serving spoon before use. Wipe the inside of the housing with a damp cloth. Run the machine through one cycle with water only before cooking food for the first time.
Cleaning the cooking bowl: Allow the bowl to cool before washing. Hand wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scourers as these will damage the non-stick coating. Check the manual before placing in the dishwasher.
Cleaning the lid and steaming tray: The tempered glass lid and stainless steel steaming tray can be washed with warm soapy water. Check the manual for dishwasher compatibility.
Cleaning the housing: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the machine in water and do not allow water to enter the base unit.
What to avoid: Do not use metal utensils in the cooking bowl as these will scratch the non-stick surface. Do not overfill beyond the maximum capacity markings. Do not use abrasive cleaning products on the bowl or lid.
