Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Wash in warm soapy water or run through the dishwasher to remove any manufacturing residue.
Daily cleaning: Dishwasher safe. Place securely in the dishwasher, avoiding contact with other items that might cause chipping. For hand washing, use warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge.
Microwave use: Microwave safe for reheating drinks. Avoid prolonged high-temperature use and always ensure the handle is positioned away from the microwave's hot spots.
Avoiding damage: Whilst bone china is remarkably strong, avoid sudden temperature changes (don't pour boiling water into a cold mug from the fridge). Don't use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that might scratch the surface.
Pattern care: The pattern is fired at high temperatures and won't fade with normal use. However, for longest life, avoid harsh dishwasher detergents with bleach and extremely hot dishwasher cycles above 65°C.
Storage: Store in a cupboard where the mug won't be knocked or chipped. The fine rim is the most delicate part - take care when stacking or storing near other items.
Stain removal: For tea or coffee stains, soak in a solution of bicarbonate of soda and warm water, or use a specialist china cleaner. Avoid harsh bleach-based products.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I've used it and don't like it?
Return it anyway. Our no quibble guarantee covers used items - if it doesn't do what you wanted, we'll refund you. This applies even after you've used it.
How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?
Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally break this item, we'll replace it at half price with proof of purchase and evidence of breakage. Photos of the damage are acceptable.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take up to 7 working days, but is usually 3-4, and is free for orders over £49. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
Will the pattern fade over time?
No. The pattern is applied using traditional methods and fired at high temperatures, making it permanent and resistant to fading. With proper care, your mug will maintain its colours for many years.
What's the difference between Henley and other Dunoon shapes?
Henley is the largest Dunoon shape with a 0.6L capacity, significantly larger than Cumbrae (0.45L), Orkney (0.35L), and Lomond (0.32L). Its gentle, concave sides and comfortable strap handle make it ideal for those who want the most generous servings.
Is bone china fragile?
Despite its delicate appearance, bone china is actually stronger and more chip-resistant than standard porcelain or ceramic. The bone ash content makes it exceptionally durable for everyday use whilst maintaining its elegant, translucent quality.
