Quick Overview: Graef French press with acacia wood handle, metal sleeve, removable glass jug and dishwasher-safe filter. Available in 350ml and 800ml.

The Graef French press is part of the brand's Handmade Coffee Collection, designed for people who want a well-made manual brewer that looks as good as it works. The metal sleeve with integrated viewing windows houses a removable glass jug, and the acacia wood handle makes pouring comfortable and secure. French press coffee is full-bodied by nature, with no filter paper to absorb the oils that give it character, and this one is straightforward to disassemble and clean afterwards. Available in 350ml for one or two cups and 800ml for larger batches, it works just as well at a kitchen counter as it does packed for camping or travel.

  • Acacia wood handle: The ergonomic real wood handle is made from acacia and sits comfortably in the hand when pouring, adding warmth to an otherwise minimal design.
  • Metal sleeve with viewing windows: The stainless steel outer sleeve protects the glass jug and includes integrated viewing windows so you can monitor the brew without removing the jug.
  • Removable glass jug: The glass jug lifts out of the metal housing for straightforward filling, serving, and cleaning, and is dishwasher-safe.
  • Removable filter: The plunger filter can be removed for cleaning, making it easy to rinse thoroughly between brews.
  • Non-slip base pad: An included non-slip pad keeps the French press stable on the worktop during preparation and plunging.

What Customers Ask About This Product

Which size should I choose?

The 350ml suits one to two cups and is a good fit if you brew for yourself or occasionally one other person. The 800ml is better for three or four cups at a time and works well if you regularly make coffee for a group or prefer to brew a larger batch.

Is the glass jug dishwasher-safe?

Yes, the glass jug can be removed from the metal housing and placed in the dishwasher. The filter is also removable for cleaning, though hand washing the filter is recommended to keep the mesh in good condition.

Can I use this for tea as well as coffee?

Yes. A French press works well for loose leaf tea using the same immersion and plunging method. The removable filter keeps leaves separated from the liquid once you press it down.

In our experience...

Grind size matters more in a French press than in almost any other method. A coarse grind is essential. Fine or medium-fine coffee passes through the filter mesh and ends up in the cup, making it gritty and over-extracted. If you are grinding at home, set the grinder noticeably coarser than you would for a drip machine.

Brew time is the main variable to experiment with. Four minutes is the standard starting point for French press coffee. Shorter gives a lighter, less developed cup; longer risks over-extraction and bitterness. Once you find your preferred timing, the results are highly repeatable.

The 350ml is genuinely compact enough to travel with. The metal sleeve protects the glass better than a naked jug, and the whole thing breaks down into a small package. If you camp or stay in hotels where the coffee is bad, this is worth packing.

Letting the coffee settle before plunging improves the result. After pouring the hot water, giving it a gentle stir and then leaving it undisturbed for most of the brew time produces a cleaner cup than continuous agitation. Plunge slowly and evenly to avoid disturbing the grounds.

Decanting immediately after plunging prevents over-extraction. Leaving coffee to sit in the French press after plunging continues the extraction process even with the filter pressed down. If you are not drinking immediately, pour into a separate vessel to stop the process.

Care & Use Instructions

After each use: Disassemble the plunger and rinse all parts with warm water promptly after use. Coffee oils build up quickly and affect the flavour of future brews if left.

Glass jug: The glass jug is dishwasher-safe once removed from the metal housing. Hand washing is also fine using warm soapy water and a soft brush or cloth.

Filter and plunger: Remove the filter assembly and rinse each component separately. Hand washing is recommended to preserve the mesh. Check the mesh periodically for damage that might allow grounds to pass through.

Metal sleeve: Wipe the stainless steel sleeve with a damp cloth. Do not submerge it in water or place it in the dishwasher.

Wood handle: Wipe the acacia wood handle with a damp cloth only. Do not soak or place in the dishwasher, as prolonged water contact will damage the wood over time.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
