The Graef WK900 is a double-walled stainless steel kettle that goes beyond boiling water. Temperature settings at 70 and 80 degrees C cover most tea types, and a dedicated filter coffee function heats water to approximately 93 degrees C, the range typically associated with pour-over and hand-brew methods. A residual heat indicator shows when water is still hot from a previous cycle, reducing the habit of unnecessary re-boiling, and an integrated child lock adds a layer of safety in households with young children. The double-walled housing keeps the exterior cool to the touch and maintains water temperature for longer after the heating cycle ends.
- Temperature settings and filter coffee function: Choose from 70 or 80 degrees C for tea, or use the filter coffee function to heat water to approximately 93 degrees C for hand-brew methods, with a temperature sensor for accurate results.
- Double-walled stainless steel housing: The double-walled construction keeps the exterior cool during and after use and helps retain water temperature for longer between heating and pouring.
- Residual heat indicator: Shows when water in the kettle is still at a useful temperature from a previous cycle, so you can pour without re-boiling unnecessarily.
- Integrated child lock: A switch on the base activates the child safety lock, preventing accidental operation and adding peace of mind in family kitchens.
- Removable limescale filter: A removable filter prevents limescale particles from reaching the cup and can be taken out for rinsing and cleaning separately.
What Customers Ask About This Product
What temperature settings does this kettle offer?
There are three selectable temperatures: 70 degrees C, 80 degrees C, and a filter coffee function at approximately 93 degrees C. There is also a standard boil setting. The temperature sensor ensures accurate heating to the selected temperature rather than relying on timed estimates.
How does the child lock work?
There is a switch on the base of the kettle that activates the child lock. When engaged, the kettle will not begin heating until the lock is released, which prevents accidental use. It is straightforward to operate as an adult but adds a meaningful barrier for small children.
Does the double-walled design keep water hot for longer?
The double-walled housing slows heat loss from the water, so it stays at a useful temperature for a while after the heating cycle ends. It is not a vacuum flask, so it will not hold temperature indefinitely, but the difference compared to a single-walled kettle is noticeable if you are pouring over a few minutes.
In our experience...
The filter coffee function is one of the most useful features on a domestic kettle. Water at 93 degrees C extracts coffee more evenly than boiling water, which can scorch lighter roasts and increase bitterness. Having a dedicated button for this removes the guesswork entirely.
Double-walled kettles run cooler on the outside than they feel. If you are used to a standard single-walled kettle, the exterior of a double-walled model can feel surprisingly cool even when the water inside is near boiling. That is the point, but it can be briefly disorienting the first time you pick it up.
A residual heat indicator saves more time than it seems. Re-boiling water that is already hot is a habit most people do not think about. The indicator means you can check at a glance whether the previous kettle cycle is still useful, which reduces both energy use and wait time.
Limescale affects taste before it affects performance. In hard water areas, you will notice a faint chalky taste in the cup before the limescale becomes visible or starts affecting heating efficiency. Rinsing the removable filter regularly and descaling on schedule keeps the water tasting clean.
The 1.25-litre capacity is a practical middle ground. Large enough to fill four to five mugs in a single cycle, small enough to heat quickly and not waste energy boiling more than you need. It suits most household sizes without the footprint of a larger model.

Care & Use Instructions
Limescale filter: Remove the limescale filter regularly and rinse under running water. In hard water areas this should be done more often. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the filter mesh.
Descaling: Descale the kettle periodically using a proprietary descaler or a citric acid solution. Follow the product instructions. Avoid vinegar, which can leave a residual taste.
Exterior cleaning: Wipe the stainless steel exterior with a damp cloth. A soft dry cloth removes fingerprints and water marks without scratching.
What to avoid: Do not immerse the base station in water. Do not fill above the 1.25-litre maximum. Do not operate the kettle without water. Keep the base station away from steam and moisture.
