The G-5 Vegetable Chopper has been a long-time customer favourite, as it makes chopping, slicing and prepping vegetables effortless. Taking inspiration from Japanese Usuba (vegetable knives), the relatively flat part of the blade is designed to effortlessly chop through fruit and vegetables by coming into full contact with the chopping board for a clean cut. The front of the blade is more curved, so the knife can be rocked gently forward after each cut to encourage good technique.
- Flat blade with curved front: The flat section gives full board contact for a clean cut, while the curve allows a gentle rocking motion.
- Global's best-selling vegetable knife: A long-time customer favourite for effortless prep.
- Weighted hollow handle: Balances the blade for comfortable, controlled use.
- Ultra sharp 15 degree cutting edge: Genuinely effortless chopping, slicing and prepping.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Is it dishwasher safe?
No, handwash only and dry immediately, since dishwashers can blunt and chip the blade and reduce its lifespan.
What's it best used for?
Chopping, slicing and prepping fruit and vegetables specifically.
Are there other versions of this knife?
Yes, the GS-5 is the smaller version, the G-81 is fluted, and the GF-36 is a fully forged option for professional chefs.
What is a vegetable knife used for?
A specialised kitchen tool designed primarily for cutting, slicing and chopping vegetables and fruit, with an ultra sharp blade that preserves the texture and integrity of the food.
In our experience...
A flat blade section is a deliberate Usuba-inspired design choice. Full contact with the board is what gives the clean, effortless cut this style of knife is known for.
The curved front encourages genuinely better technique. It allows a gentle rocking motion forward after each cut, rather than a straight up-and-down chop.
A sand-filled hollow handle is a deliberate Global design choice. It's specifically what balances the weight of the blade, giving the knife a comfortable, controlled feel rather than being blade-heavy.
