Yes, the all-stainless steel tray can be dishwashed on a short, hot cycle. The mills themselves should never go in the dishwasher, since this would damage their internal mechanisms.

Buying as a set genuinely saves money here. At £10 less than buying the salt mill, pepper mill and tray separately, it's a real saving rather than just a bundling convenience.
The tray and the mills need genuinely different care. Being all stainless steel, the tray can go in the dishwasher, while the mills themselves must always be handwashed to protect their ceramic mechanisms.
Colour-coded collars solve a genuine everyday mix-up. Reaching for the wrong mill at the table is a common annoyance this design specifically avoids.

Care & Use Instructions
Cleaning the exterior: Use a dry microfibre cloth, dampened for stubborn marks and dried immediately afterwards. Never submerge the mill in water or place it in the dishwasher, as this will damage the internal grinding mechanism.
Before adding new salt: Empty the existing salt, add a tablespoon of coarse salt, adjust the grinder to fine, and grind until no more salt comes out. Remove any excess before adding fresh salt. This helps clean residue from the ceramic mechanism.
Deep cleaning the mechanism: Unscrew the grey adjusting wheel and carefully remove the ceramic cone, keeping the spring securely in place. Wipe loose dust from the cone with a cloth or brush, then wash the cone in water. Wipe and leave to dry thoroughly before replacing.
Use: Never use this mill above a steaming pot, as it can clog and damage the mechanism. Keep it dedicated to salt only. Use rock salt or dry, coarse sea salt rather than light finishing salts like Maldon or fleur de sel, which are too light and friable for a mill.
Storage: Store in a dry location, away from steam or humidity.
Dishwashing the tray: Wash on a short, hot cycle at 65-75C. Use a quality branded all-in-one dishwasher tablet, and keep rinse aid and salt (for hard water areas) topped up. Avoid washing with non-stainless steel metals, as this can cause rust staining. Keep dishwasher filters clean and use a proprietary dishwasher cleaner regularly. For stubborn stains, use a proprietary stainless steel cream cleaner.
Handwashing the tray: Wash in warm soapy water with a microfibre cloth or non-abrasive brush. Avoid soaking, and dry thoroughly immediately after washing. Never use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners, as these will scratch the surface.

Next day delivery is available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
