The G-29 is another fairly specialist knife in the G series line. The knife is suited for work with medium sized fish and is a bit of a crossover between a cook's knife and a chopper. It's also perfectly suited for cutting up chicken, turkey or other poultry that may be cooked whole. The deep blade is designed to help the knife cut through bones to remove fish heads, tails and fins, as the knife can be swung down onto a chopping board. Useful for preparing fish if you like to buy your fish whole, this knife will also create deep slices to serve up.
- Deep blade: Designed to cut through bones when swung down onto a chopping board.
- A genuine crossover tool: Sits between a cook's knife and a chopper.
- Suited to whole poultry and fish: Handles chicken, turkey and medium sized fish preparation.
- Acute 15 degree cutting edge: Dramatically sharper than a standard edge, and stays sharper for longer.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Is it dishwasher safe?
No, handwash only and dry immediately, since dishwashers can blunt and chip the blade and reduce its lifespan.
What's it best used for?
Medium sized fish, whole poultry, and removing fish heads, tails and fins.
Can it cut through bone?
Yes, the deep blade is specifically designed to cut through bone when swung down onto a chopping board.
In our experience...
A deep blade genuinely changes what a knife can cut through. The extra depth adds the weight and leverage needed to get through bone, which a standard thin blade isn't built for.
A sand-filled hollow handle is a deliberate Global design choice. It's specifically what balances the weight of the blade, giving the knife a comfortable, controlled feel rather than being blade-heavy.
This knife suits buying fish whole, not just fillets. Its ability to remove heads, tails and fins makes it genuinely useful for preparing a whole fish from scratch.
