The Black and Blum Stack and Nest Glass Food Container is the same container sold in the three and five-piece sets, available here individually so you can build a mixed collection across sizes or replace a damaged container without buying a new set. Each container is made from borosilicate glass with a vacuum-sealed, leak-proof lid and a fully removable silicone seal. Safe across the freezer at minus 20 degrees C through to the oven and air fryer at 250 degrees C, and dishwasher and microwave safe throughout. Containers of the same size stack on top of each other; different sizes nest inside one another. Available in Extra Small (380ml), Small (600ml), Medium (900ml), and Large (1.2 litres), and compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes.
- Borosilicate glass construction: High-quality borosilicate glass handles temperatures from minus 20 degrees C to 250 degrees C, making each container safe across the freezer, fridge, oven, air fryer, and microwave without needing to transfer food between vessels.
- Airtight, leak-proof lid: The vacuum-sealed lid lock creates an airtight seal that keeps food fresh for longer and prevents leaks, making the container reliable for transporting food as well as storing it.
- Fully removable silicone seal: The silicone seal lifts out of the lid completely for cleaning, removing the main source of residue build-up and odour transfer that affects most food storage lids over time.
- Stack and nest design: Containers of the same size stack directly on top of each other; different sizes nest inside one another, making it straightforward to combine sizes from this range into a compact storage arrangement.
- Compatible with all main kitchen appliances: Each container is rated dishwasher, oven, air fryer, microwave, and freezer safe, and is compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes for use across different preparation methods.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Should I buy individually or in a set?
Sets of three and five offer a lower per-container cost and are the better choice if you want several containers of the same size. Buying individually makes sense if you want to mix sizes across the range, if you need to replace a single container, or if you want to try one size before committing to a larger set.
Which size should I choose?
The Extra Small at 380ml suits a single snack portion, a small side dish, or sandwich components. The Small at 600ml covers a standard lunch portion or a main dish for one. The Medium at 900ml is better for a larger meal, a big salad, or a portion that expands on reheating. The Large at 1.2 litres is the one for batch cooking, storing larger leftovers, or family-sized portions.
Can I put this directly from the freezer into the oven?
Borosilicate glass is significantly more resistant to thermal shock than standard glass, but moving directly from a very cold freezer to a hot oven is still not recommended. Allow the container to come to room temperature first before placing in a hot oven to avoid any risk of cracking.
Does the lid go in the dishwasher?
Yes. Remove the silicone seal before washing to ensure both the lid and the seal are cleaned properly. Both can go in the dishwasher or be washed by hand.
In our experience...
Buying individually lets you build the right mix across sizes. Most households benefit from a range of container sizes rather than a uniform set. Buying individually means you can put together exactly the combination that suits your cooking and storage habits, whether that is two Smalls for lunches and one Large for batch cooking, or any other combination.
The removable seal is one of the most practically important features on any food storage lid. On most lids with a fixed or difficult-to-remove seal, residue and odours build up in the groove over time and are nearly impossible to clean properly. A fully removable seal removes that problem entirely and keeps the lid hygienic across years of use.
Borosilicate glass is a meaningful upgrade over standard food storage glass. Standard glass containers can crack under temperature changes that borosilicate handles comfortably. The material is the same used in laboratory glassware and quality bakeware, and it is why these containers can move between freezer and oven without thermal cracking. They are still breakable if dropped, but the thermal resilience is genuine.
The Large size is particularly useful for batch cooking. At 1.2 litres, the Large container holds a full batch of soup, a pasta bake for two, or a good portion of a curry or stew. It is oven safe, so you can cook in it directly and store the leftovers in the same vessel, which saves washing up a separate dish.
These containers stack with the sets, so you can expand incrementally. Individual containers and set containers are the same product, so they stack and nest together. If you already own the three-container set in Small and want to add two more, buying two individual Smalls gives you the same result as the five-container set, at the same per-unit cost.

Care & Use Instructions
After each use: Wash the container and lid in the dishwasher or by hand with warm soapy water. Remove the silicone seal from the lid before washing to ensure both parts are cleaned properly.
Silicone seal: Remove the seal after each use and wash separately. Check periodically that it is seated correctly when refitting, as a poorly fitted seal will affect the airtight performance.
Oven and air fryer use: The glass body can go in the oven or air fryer up to 250 degrees C. Do not put the lid or silicone seal in the oven or air fryer. If going from cold storage to a hot oven, allow the container to reach room temperature first.
What to avoid: Do not drop the container on hard floors. Do not use abrasive scourers on the glass. Do not place directly from a very cold freezer into a hot oven without allowing time to acclimatise first.
