The Black and Blum Stack and Nest Glass Food Containers are designed to solve the two main frustrations with food storage: lids that do not seal reliably and containers that take over an entire cupboard. The airtight, leak-proof lid uses a vacuum-sealed lock to keep food genuinely fresh, with a fully removable silicone seal that makes the lid easy to clean properly. The containers are made from borosilicate glass, which handles the full range from freezer at minus 20 degrees C to oven and air fryer at 250 degrees C, and are dishwasher and microwave safe too. Containers of the same size stack directly; different sizes nest inside each other. Each set contains three containers of the same size, available in Extra Small (380ml), Small (600ml), Medium (900ml), and Large (1.2 litres), and they are compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes.
- Borosilicate glass construction: High-quality borosilicate glass handles temperatures from minus 20 degrees C to 250 degrees C, making each container safe across the freezer, fridge, oven, air fryer, and microwave without needing to transfer food between vessels.
- Airtight, leak-proof lid: The vacuum-sealed lid lock creates an airtight seal that keeps food fresh for longer and prevents leaks, making the containers reliable for transporting food as well as storing it.
- Fully removable silicone seal: The silicone seal lifts out of the lid completely for cleaning, removing the main source of residue build-up and odour transfer that affects most food storage lids over time.
- Stack and nest design: Containers of the same size stack directly on top of each other; different sizes nest inside one another. Either way, the set takes up significantly less cupboard space than a conventional container collection.
- Compatible with all main kitchen appliances: Each container is rated dishwasher, oven, air fryer, microwave, and freezer safe, and is compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes for use across different preparation methods.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Can I put these directly from the freezer into the oven?
Borosilicate glass is significantly more resistant to thermal shock than standard glass, but moving directly from a very cold freezer to a hot oven is still not recommended for any glass container. Allow the containers to come to room temperature first before placing in a hot oven to avoid any risk of cracking.
Does the lid go in the dishwasher as well as the glass?
Yes, the lids are dishwasher safe. The silicone seal should be removed before washing to ensure both the lid and seal are cleaned properly. The seal can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand.
What is the difference between stacking and nesting?
Stacking is placing containers of the same size directly on top of each other, which works well in the fridge or when transporting meals. Nesting is fitting different sizes inside each other for compact storage in a cupboard when not in use. The Stack and Nest design is shaped to do both efficiently.
Are these also available individually or in larger sets?
Yes. Each size is also available individually and in sets of five. If you want to mix sizes, buying individual containers from the range lets you build a set that suits your specific storage needs.
In our experience...
Borosilicate glass is a meaningful upgrade over standard food storage glass. Standard glass containers can crack under temperature changes that borosilicate handles comfortably. The material is the same used in laboratory glassware and quality bakeware, which is why it can go from freezer to oven. It is still breakable if dropped, but thermal cracking is not a concern in normal use.
The removable seal is one of the most practically important features on any food storage lid. On most lids with a fixed or difficult-to-remove seal, residue and odours build up in the groove over time and are nearly impossible to clean properly. A fully removable seal removes that problem entirely and keeps the lid hygienic across years of use.
Getting the right size takes a little thought before buying. The Extra Small at 380ml suits a single snack portion or a side dish. The Small at 600ml covers a standard lunch portion. The Medium at 900ml works for a main meal or a larger salad. The Large at 1.2 litres is the one for batch cooking, leftovers, or family portions. Buying a set of three in a single size works well if you meal prep the same dish in multiples.
Glass containers are heavier than plastic, which is worth factoring in for packed lunches. The Medium set weighs around 596g per container. That is noticeably heavier than a plastic equivalent of the same capacity, which matters if you carry food to work or school regularly. The trade-off is durability, hygiene, and the ability to reheat directly in the container.
Nesting only works efficiently if you keep lids separate during storage. If you try to nest the containers with lids attached, they will not nest as compactly. Storing lids separately or stacked together while the containers nest inside each other is the approach that gives the maximum space saving in the cupboard.

Care & Use Instructions
After each use: Wash the container and lid in the dishwasher or by hand with warm soapy water. Remove the silicone seal from the lid before washing to ensure both parts are cleaned properly.
Silicone seal: Remove the seal after each use and wash separately. Check periodically that it is seated correctly when refitting, as a poorly fitted seal will affect the airtight performance.
Oven and air fryer use: The glass body can go in the oven or air fryer up to 250 degrees C. Do not put the lid or silicone seal in the oven or air fryer. If going from cold storage to a hot oven, allow the container to reach room temperature first.
What to avoid: Do not drop the containers on hard floors. Do not use abrasive scourers on the glass. Do not place directly from a very cold freezer into a hot oven without allowing time to acclimatise first.
