The Black and Blum Stack and Nest Glass Food Container set of five is built for households that meal prep in volume or want enough containers to cover a full week of lunches without running out. Each container is made from borosilicate glass with a vacuum-sealed, leak-proof lid and a fully removable silicone seal for thorough cleaning. The same set of features applies as the three-container version: safe across the freezer at minus 20 degrees C, oven and air fryer at up to 250 degrees C, microwave, and dishwasher. Containers of the same size stack directly on top of each other; different sizes nest inside one another for compact cupboard storage. The set of five is available in Small (600ml) and Medium (900ml), and is compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes.
- Borosilicate glass construction: High-quality borosilicate glass handles temperatures from minus 20 degrees C to 250 degrees C, making each container safe across the freezer, fridge, oven, air fryer, and microwave without needing to transfer food between vessels.
- Airtight, leak-proof lid: The vacuum-sealed lid lock creates an airtight seal that keeps food fresh for longer and prevents leaks, making the containers reliable for transporting food as well as storing it.
- Fully removable silicone seal: The silicone seal lifts out of the lid completely for cleaning, removing the main source of residue build-up and odour transfer that affects most food storage lids over time.
- Stack and nest design: Containers of the same size stack directly on top of each other; different sizes nest inside one another. A set of five in a single size stacks into a compact column that takes up minimal cupboard space.
- Compatible with all main kitchen appliances: Each container is rated dishwasher, oven, air fryer, microwave, and freezer safe, and is compatible with Black and Blum's stainless steel Meal Prep Boxes for use across different preparation methods.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Why choose the set of five rather than the set of three?
The set of five makes more sense if you meal prep for a full working week in one session, cook in larger batches, or want enough containers to cover multiple people's lunches simultaneously. The per-container cost is also lower in the set of five compared to buying two sets of three. Note that the five-container set is only available in Small (600ml) and Medium (900ml), whereas the three-container set also comes in Extra Small and Large.
Can I put these directly from the freezer into the oven?
Borosilicate glass is significantly more resistant to thermal shock than standard glass, but moving directly from a very cold freezer to a hot oven is still not recommended. Allow the containers to come to room temperature first before placing in a hot oven to avoid any risk of cracking.
Does the lid go in the dishwasher as well as the glass?
Yes, the lids are dishwasher safe. Remove the silicone seal before washing to ensure both the lid and seal are cleaned properly. The seal can go in the dishwasher or be washed by hand.
Are these also available individually or in sets of three?
Yes. Each size is available individually and in sets of three. The three-container set also comes in Extra Small (380ml) and Large (1.2 litres), which are not available in the five-container set.
In our experience...
Five containers is the point at which meal prep becomes genuinely time-efficient. With three containers you can cover a few days. With five you can prep a full working week in a single Sunday session and still have a container or two free for other use. The difference in storage footprint between three and five stacked containers of the same size is modest, which makes the step up worth considering.
The removable seal is one of the most practically important features on any food storage lid. On most lids with a fixed or difficult-to-remove seal, residue and odours build up in the groove over time and are nearly impossible to clean properly. A fully removable seal removes that problem entirely and keeps the lid hygienic across years of use.
Small versus Medium is a meaningful choice for meal prep. The Small at 600ml suits a standard single lunch portion, a side dish, or a snack-plus-main combination. The Medium at 900ml is better for a larger main meal, a salad with protein, or a portion that will expand when reheated. Choosing based on your typical portion size rather than the number of containers tends to give the more useful set.
Glass containers are heavier than plastic, which is worth factoring in if you carry food regularly. A set of five Medium containers weighs around 3kg in total. That is a meaningful weight consideration if you are transporting multiple containers to work or school. The trade-off is durability, hygiene, and the ability to reheat directly in the container without transferring to another vessel.
Nesting works best with lids stored separately. If you try to nest containers with lids attached, they will not nest as compactly. Storing lids stacked separately whilst the containers nest inside each other gives the maximum space saving, which matters more with five containers than with three.

Care & Use Instructions
After each use: Wash the container and lid in the dishwasher or by hand with warm soapy water. Remove the silicone seal from the lid before washing to ensure both parts are cleaned properly.
Silicone seal: Remove the seal after each use and wash separately. Check periodically that it is seated correctly when refitting, as a poorly fitted seal will affect the airtight performance.
Oven and air fryer use: The glass body can go in the oven or air fryer up to 250 degrees C. Do not put the lid or silicone seal in the oven or air fryer. If going from cold storage to a hot oven, allow the container to reach room temperature first.
What to avoid: Do not drop the containers on hard floors. Do not use abrasive scourers on the glass. Do not place directly from a very cold freezer into a hot oven without allowing time to acclimatise first.
