Quick Overview: Global Cherrywood Chopping Board. Sustainably sourced, pre-oiled, knife-friendly surface. Stainless steel handles. Available in 35x25cm and 50x30cm.

The Global Cherrywood Chopping Board brings the knife brand's considered approach to materials into the worktop category. Crafted from sustainably sourced cherrywood and hand-finished with chamfered edges, each board has a natural grain pattern that is distinct to the individual piece and deepens in character over time. The surface is gentle on knife blades, which matters if you are using quality knives alongside a quality board, and the boards are supplied pre-oiled so they are ready to use immediately. Stainless steel handles with the Global logo make it practical to move between worktop and table, and the range covers two useful sizes: 35x25cm for everyday prep and 50x30cm for larger cooking sessions or serving.

  • Premium cherrywood with natural grain: Crafted from sustainably sourced cherrywood, each board has a distinct grain pattern and warm tone that deepens naturally with age and use.
  • Knife-friendly surface: The fine, close grain of cherrywood is gentle on knife blades, helping maintain edge sharpness better than harder synthetic or stone surfaces.
  • Pre-oiled, not laminated: Each board is supplied pre-oiled rather than lacquered or laminated, preserving the natural look of the wood and making it straightforward to re-oil at home to extend its life.
  • Metal handles with Global logo: Stainless steel handles on each board provide a secure grip when moving it from worktop to table, with the Global logo adding a considered finishing detail.
  • Hand-finished with chamfered edges: The boards are hand-finished with subtle chamfered edges for comfortable handling and a refined appearance, with natural variation between individual boards.

What Customers Ask About This Product

How do I maintain this board?

The board is supplied pre-oiled and should be re-oiled periodically with food-safe mineral oil or a dedicated board oil to prevent the wood from drying out. How often depends on how frequently the board is used and washed. When the surface starts to look dry or pale, it is time to oil it. Apply oil generously, allow it to soak in for a few hours or overnight, then wipe off any excess.

Can I put this in the dishwasher?

No. Dishwashers will warp, crack, and split a solid wood board. Hand wash only with warm soapy water, rinse quickly, and stand upright to dry rather than leaving it flat in a wet sink.

Which size should I choose?

The 35x25cm board suits everyday prep tasks for one or two people: a couple of vegetables, a chicken breast, a block of cheese. The 50x30cm provides considerably more workspace and is the better choice if you regularly prep larger quantities, cook for a family, or want the board to double as a serving piece for bread, charcuterie, or cheese.

Will the board warp over time?

Solid wood boards can warp if they are repeatedly soaked in water, left wet, or exposed to excessive heat. The pre-oiled finish and regular re-oiling help protect against moisture imbalance, which is the main cause of warping. Avoid leaving the board submerged in water and store it upright or flat on a dry surface.

In our experience...

Cherrywood is one of the better choices for a worktop cutting board. It sits in a practical middle ground between very hard woods like maple and softer woods like pine. Hard enough to resist deep scoring from daily use, but not so hard that it dulls knife blades quickly. The fine grain also means it does not harbour bacteria in the way that open-grained softer woods can.

Pre-oiled is a better starting point than untreated, but the board will still need maintenance. A board supplied pre-oiled is ready to use immediately without the need to season it yourself first. That said, oiling is an ongoing maintenance task rather than a one-off. Most boards used daily benefit from re-oiling every one to two months, more frequently if washed often.

The board will darken and change character with use, which is expected. The source notes that cherrywood naturally ages to a deeper colour over time. This is not a defect: it is the characteristic behaviour of cherry, which is well-known for deepening from a pale salmon-pink to a richer warm brown with exposure to light and use. The board will look different after a year than it does when new.

Standing the board upright to dry is one of the most important maintenance habits. Leaving a wood board flat in a wet sink, or flat on a surface while wet, allows water to penetrate unevenly into the grain and create the conditions for warping. Standing it upright or on edge lets both sides dry at the same rate, which keeps the board flat over time.

Metal handles are an underrated feature on a chopping board. Moving a chopping board loaded with chopped ingredients from the worktop to a pot, pan, or serving dish is awkward without a handle. The stainless steel handles on the Global Cherrywood range make that transfer considerably easier and also add a reason to bring the board to the table as a serving piece.

Care & Use Instructions

After each use: Wash by hand with warm soapy water and a cloth or soft brush. Rinse quickly and dry with a towel, then stand upright to air dry fully. Do not leave the board lying flat while wet.

Oiling: Re-oil the board periodically with food-safe mineral oil or a dedicated board conditioner. Apply generously to all surfaces including the edges, leave to soak in for several hours or overnight, then wipe off any remaining oil. Oil when the wood looks dry or pale.

Stain removal: For stubborn stains or odours, rub the surface with half a lemon dipped in coarse salt. Rinse well and dry, then re-oil if the surface feels dry after the treatment.

What to avoid: Do not put in the dishwasher. Do not soak in water. Do not leave near a direct heat source such as a hob or oven. Do not use bleach or harsh chemical cleaners on the surface.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
