The Riedel Superleggero Riesling/Zinfandel glass is one of the most versatile in the range. At 400ml, it is smaller than the white wine bowls, with a tapered shape that concentrates aromatic whites — Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer — on the nose while preserving their freshness and acidity. The same bowl also works for medium-bodied, fruit-forward reds that do not need the space of a full Bordeaux or Burgundy glass — Zinfandel, Primitivo and Grenache-based wines, where the fruit is the primary character and the tannins are soft enough not to need softening through extended aeration.
- 400ml capacity: A smaller bowl than the red wine glasses in the Superleggero range, designed to concentrate the aromatics of both fragrant whites and fruit-forward reds before they reach the nose.
- Works for both white and red wines: The bowl shape is calibrated for aromatic whites (Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer) and medium-bodied reds (Zinfandel, Primitivo, Grenache) — making it one of the most flexible shapes in the Superleggero range.
- Machine-made on Riedel's own equipment: Consistent bowl geometry and rim diameter across every glass, produced on Riedel's in-house machine.
- Lead-free crystal: Made from lead-free crystal for optical clarity and a clean, light feel in the hand.
- Dishwasher safe: Technically dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to maintain clarity over time.
What Customers Ask About This Product
What wines is the Superleggero Riesling/Zinfandel glass designed for?
It is designed for aromatic whites — Riesling (dry or off-dry), Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Albariño, Grüner Veltliner — and medium-bodied, fruit-forward reds such as Zinfandel, Primitivo, Grenache and Garnacha.
Can I use this glass for Pinot Noir?
Pinot Noir shows better in the Burgundy Grand Cru, which has a larger, rounder bowl to allow its aromatics to develop fully. The Riesling/Zinfandel bowl would work in a pinch, but is not calibrated for Pinot Noir.
Is this the right glass for all Riesling styles?
The bowl is suited to dry, off-dry and medium-sweet Riesling. For late-harvest or Auslese styles, the Oaked Chardonnay glass may be more appropriate, as those wines have more body and concentration.

Care & Use Instructions
Hand washing recommended: Wash in warm (not hot) water with a small amount of mild detergent. Hold the glass by the base and support the bowl gently — avoid gripping the stem.
Dry immediately: Dry straight away with a clean, lint-free microfibre cloth. This prevents water spots and keeps the glass clear. Do not hold the base and twist the bowl while drying.
Dishwasher use: If using a dishwasher, use the gentlest cycle at no more than 50°C. Place on the upper rack with glasses not touching each other. Avoid lemon-scented or abrasive detergents. Open the door and allow to air dry rather than using the drying cycle.
Remove water spots: A small amount of white vinegar added to the final rinse water helps prevent and remove mineral deposits and water spots.
Storage: Store upright in a clean, dry cupboard. Never stack glasses or store rim-down, as the rim is the most delicate part of the glass.
