The Zyliss Gourmet Drum Grater grates, shreds and slices cheese, vegetables, fruit, nuts and chocolate: you load the hopper and turn the handle. This version comes with one coarse stainless steel drum, which suits soft and semi-soft cheese and vegetables, and its coated cast aluminium body keeps it steady as you work. Extra drums are available separately if you want to do more with it.
- Enclosed drum: The drum is enclosed to help keep fingers away from the sharp stainless steel blades.
- Large food hopper: Load food into the top chamber, then simply turn the handle.
- Non-slip suction foot: Holds the grater steady on the worktop while you work.
- Ergonomic handle and centred plunger: Designed to keep the effort low, even with firmer ingredients.
- Quick to take apart: It disassembles in moments, which makes washing up straightforward.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Which drum does it come with?
One stainless steel coarse grating drum. Zyliss also makes Julienne, Puree and Universal drums that are sold separately, so you can add to it later.
Can it grate Parmesan?
The coarse drum suits soft and semi-soft cheese and vegetables. Zyliss recommends a fine drum for hard cheese such as Parmesan, and that isn't included with this single-drum version.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
We recommend washing everything by hand, drum included. The body should always be handwashed, and dishwashers can dull sharp blades, so handwashing keeps the drum cutting well for longer.
How long is the guarantee?
Zyliss backs it with a 5-year guarantee. If you ever have a problem, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
In our experience...
Chill soft cheese first. Soft and semi-soft cheese such as mozzarella grates more cleanly when it is cold, so keep it in the fridge until you are ready. Warm cheese tends to smear against the drum.
Cut food to fit the hopper. Cut larger vegetables into chunks that sit comfortably in the hopper, and let the plunger and handle do the work. Forcing an oversized piece in rarely saves time.
Rinse it straight away. Cheese and vegetable residue is far easier to remove before it dries. Take the grater apart and wash the drum carefully, keeping your fingers clear of the blades.

Care & Use Instructions
Washing: Take the grater apart and handwash the body and drum in warm soapy water. We always recommend handwashing anything with a cutting edge, as dishwashers can dull blades, and the body should always be handwashed.
Safe use: The blades are extremely sharp, so keep fingers clear when washing the drum. Use it for food only, never for non-food materials.
