Inspired by the winter star that has guided travellers home for centuries, the Le Creuset L'Etoile Shallow Casserole 30cm brings festive elegance to the hob, oven and table. Its wide, shallow shape is ideal for recipes that benefit from a larger cooking surface — from slow braises and one-pot roasts to baked cakes and loaves — while the cast iron construction delivers the even heat distribution and heat retention Le Creuset is known for. Crafted and hand-finished at the Le Creuset foundry in northern France, this is a piece designed to be used every Christmas and handed down.
- Wide, shallow cooking surface: The 30cm diameter and shallow sides maximise browning and caramelisation, making it as useful for baking and gratins as it is for braises and stews.
- Advanced sand interior enamel: Specifically engineered to resist staining and withstand wear: 35–40% more resistant to thermal shock, 16% more resistant to chipping, and 45% easier to clean than previous Le Creuset enamel formulations.
- Enamelled cast iron construction: Cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly across the base and up the sides. Food stays warmer at the table for longer, and no seasoning is ever required.
- Moisture-locking lid with stabilisers: The tight-fitting lid features built-in stabilisers for enhanced moisture retention and flavour development. The brushed stainless-steel knob is comfortable to grip and suitable for all oven temperatures.
- Large, easy-grip handles: Oversized handles make it easy to move from hob to oven to table safely, even with oven gloves or mitts.
- Suitable for all hob types: Works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction hobs. Also oven, grill and dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to preserve the enamel.
- Handcrafted in France since 1925: Every piece is individually cast and finished at the Le Creuset foundry in northern France, ensuring consistency and quality across the lifetime of the piece.

Care & Use Instructions
Season before first use: Wash in hot soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before first use. A light coat of cooking oil wiped inside is not required for the enamel, but the rim where the lid sits may benefit from a thin layer.
Use low to medium heat: Cast iron retains heat very efficiently. Cooking on a low to medium heat gives the best results and protects the enamel from unnecessary stress.
Avoid thermal shock: Do not plunge a hot casserole into cold water or place it directly from the freezer onto a hot hob. Allow it to cool naturally before washing.
Hand washing recommended: Although dishwasher safe, regular dishwasher use can dull the enamel over time. Washing by hand with warm soapy water is recommended to keep the finish in the best condition.
Use silicone, wood or nylon utensils: Avoid metal utensils which can chip or scratch the enamel interior. Silicone, wooden or nylon tools will protect the surface and extend the life of the piece.
Store carefully: Place a folded cloth or Le Creuset protector between stacked pieces to prevent chipping. Store in a dry place with the lid slightly ajar if possible.
