Quick Overview: The Le Creuset La Jardin Sphere Plate is a 22cm stoneware plate decorated with tulips, daffodils and bluebells, oven, microwave, grill and dishwasher safe.
The Le Creuset La Jardin Sphere Plate is a 22cm round stoneware plate decorated with a floral pattern of tulips, daffodils and bluebells, part of the garden-inspired La Jardin collection. The Sphere format gives the plate a shallow, gently curved profile, with a 2.8cm depth that helps keep food in place at the table. Made from specialist stoneware in Thailand, the glazed surface is scratch-resistant and thermoresistant from -23°C to 260°C, so it handles the move from fridge or freezer to oven comfortably. It is cleared for oven, microwave, grill and dishwasher use, which makes it as practical as it is decorative. As part of a seasonal collection, it pairs well with other La Jardin pieces and makes a considered gift for a Le Creuset collector.
Tulip, Daffodil and Bluebell Pattern: The plate is decorated with intricate floral designs featuring tulips, daffodils and bluebells, celebrating the garden-inspired aesthetic of the La Jardin collection.
22cm Sphere Format: The Sphere plate format is round with a gently curved, shallow profile measuring 22cm across and 2.8cm deep, making it well suited to main courses and generous starter portions.
Thermoresistant Stoneware: Made from specialist stoneware, the plate handles temperatures from -23°C to 260°C, so it transitions comfortably from fridge or freezer to oven.
Scratch-Resistant Glaze: The glazed stoneware surface resists scratching in everyday use and is easy to wipe clean without marking.
Oven, Microwave, Grill and Dishwasher Safe: Cleared for use in the oven, under the grill, in the microwave and in the dishwasher, this plate covers every practical scenario alongside its decorative appeal.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Is 22cm a starter plate or a dinner plate?
22cm sits between a typical side plate, which is usually around 18-20cm, and a full dinner plate, which is generally 26-28cm. It works well as a generous starter plate, a side plate for sharing dishes, or a main plate for lighter meals. If you are used to a larger dinner plate, it may feel slightly small for a full main course with sides.
Can this plate be used on the hob?
No, like all Le Creuset stoneware, this plate is not suitable for direct hob use. It is designed for oven, grill and microwave use only and should not be placed on a gas, electric or induction hob. If you need a piece that works on the hob, Le Creuset's cast iron range would be worth exploring.
Will everyday cutlery mark or scratch the floral decoration over time?
Le Creuset's glazed stoneware is designed to resist scratching in everyday use, and the glaze covers the decoration as well as the surface of the plate. That said, no glazed ceramic is entirely immune to fine surface marks from metal cutlery over many years of use. Avoiding abrasive cleaning products and using the dishwasher on a standard cycle rather than a heavy programme will help keep the decoration looking its best for longer.
Does this plate pair with other pieces in the La Jardin collection?
Yes, the La Jardin collection includes other pieces with the same garden-inspired floral decoration, including the La Jardin Petite Casserole, Cappuccino Mug and 350ml Mug. If you are building a matched table setting or buying a gift, it is worth checking current availability across the range, as seasonal collections like this one are not always carried forward from year to year.
In our experience...
22cm is smaller than most people picture when they hear dinner plate. A standard dinner plate in most households runs to 26-28cm, so 22cm will feel noticeably smaller if that is what you are used to. It works well as a generous starter plate or a main for lighter portions, but it is worth being clear about the size if you are buying it as a gift for someone with a specific expectation.
Pre-warming stoneware plates makes a real difference to hot food. Stoneware absorbs heat from food before it has fully warmed up, which can make hot dishes cool faster than expected. Placing the plates in a low oven for a few minutes before serving solves this. It is a small habit that makes a noticeable difference, especially with sauced dishes or anything you want to stay at temperature throughout the meal.
Stoneware plates are heavier than most people expect when picking them up for the first time. The density of stoneware is part of what makes it durable and good at retaining temperature, but it does mean the plates feel substantially heavier than standard ceramic or porcelain alternatives. This is worth knowing if you are stacking or carrying several at once, or buying for someone with a preference for lightweight tableware.
Le Creuset seasonal collections are worth buying when you see them. Themed ranges like La Jardin are not always repeated from year to year, and specific pieces can sell out without being restocked. If you are building a matched set or looking for a particular piece as a gift, it is generally better to buy when the range is available rather than wait and assume it will be there next season.
Stoneware is not hob-safe, which surprises many Le Creuset customers. Because Le Creuset cast iron works on every heat source including induction, people sometimes assume the stoneware range does too. It does not. Stoneware is oven, grill and microwave only, never directly on a hob. It is a genuinely common point of confusion and worth knowing before you buy or give as a gift.

Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Remove all labels and packaging. Wash in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly before use.
Using in the oven and under the grill: Always use oven gloves when handling a hot plate. When using under the grill, leave at least 6.5cm between the heat source and the top of the plate. If reheating a dish currently at room temperature, do not preheat the oven above 205°C. If adding liquid to a dish already in the oven, remove the plate first and allow it to cool for a few minutes before adding the liquid.
Reheating from cold: Do not place a frozen plate or dish into a preheated oven. Put it in a cold oven and allow the temperature to rise gradually with the plate inside. Always check food is piping hot throughout before serving.
Cleaning: Allow the plate to cool completely before washing. Wipe away any leftover food from the surface. If food is stuck, fill the plate with warm, soapy water and leave it to soak for 15 to 20 minutes before washing as usual. Wash and dry by hand, or place in the dishwasher for a full cycle.

Rest of the World
If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.
Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.
Before you order internationally, please note:
All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.
Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
