Can the stainless steel lid go in the microwave?
No, only the glass pot, wood fibre base and silicone lid are microwave safe, not the steel lid.
Can I put it straight in the oven from the fridge?
No, let the glass come to room temperature first, as a sudden change in temperature can cause it to crack.
Why does the steel lid feel stiff sometimes?
Wipe the inside of the lid with a little vegetable oil and let it dry.
Can I carry warm food with the metal lid on?
It's best avoided, as placing the metal lid directly onto the silicone lid while hot can create a vacuum effect that makes them hard to separate.

The wood fibre base does more than protect the glass. It barely retains heat, so you can handle it straight out of the microwave without burning your hands.
The silicone lid has a clever air gap trick. Lifting it slightly and tucking the tab into the rim stops it being sucked into the pot while heating.
Glass needs a gentle temperature transition. Going straight from fridge to oven, or oven to a cold surface, is the main way this kind of glass cracks.
A stiff steel lid is a quick fix, not a fault. A wipe of vegetable oil on the thread usually sorts it.
Replacement parts are available. If anything does eventually wear out, Black+Blum sell individual replacement parts rather than needing a whole new pot.

Care & Use Instructions
Microwave: Glass pot, wood fibre base and silicone lid are microwave safe, the stainless steel lid is not. Heat 2 minutes maximum at a time, stirring and repeating if needed.
Oven: Only the glass pot and silicone lid are oven safe. Bring to room temperature first and avoid direct contact with a grill or flame.
Dishwasher: All parts are dishwasher safe, ideally on the top rack.
Freezer: All parts are freezer safe. Leave room for expansion and fully defrost before reheating.

How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take 5-7 working days (but is usually much quicker than that), and it's free on orders over £49. Next day delivery is available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
