The Microplane Rotary Grater's classic design is an innovative kitchen gadget that delivers maximum results with minimal effort. With a photo-etched, ultra-sharp fine blade made in the USA, it grates hard cheese, chocolate and nuts easily and accurately directly over your dishes. The wide hopper opening makes it possible to process larger amounts at once, and the funnel-shaped blade lets grated food gradually fall from the drum as you turn the crank.
- Photo-etched, ultra-sharp blade: Made in the USA, grates cheese, chocolate and nuts effortlessly.
- Large hopper: Holds generous amounts for grating in one go.
- Funnel-shaped design: Grated results dispense quickly and easily as you crank.
- Easy to assemble and disassemble: Comes apart without tools for cleaning.
- Ergonomic soft-touch handle: Comfortable to hold while turning the crank.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Is it safer than a flat grater?
The food sits inside the drum and you turn the handle, so your fingers stay well away from the blade. That makes it a good choice for grating at the table.
What's the difference between this and a flat Microplane grater?
The rotary grater is quickest for a fine grate of hard cheese, chocolate or nuts straight over a dish. A flat grater gives you more control and also handles citrus zest, garlic and softer foods.
In our experience...
Hard cheese works best. Parmesan, pecorino and other hard cheeses grate cleanly in a rotary drum, where softer cheeses can clog it.
Grate straight over the plate. A rotary grater is made for the table: everyone can add as much cheese as they like over their own pasta.
Etched blades cut rather than tear. Photo-etched teeth slice food cleanly, where punched graters rip it. That gives lighter, fluffier cheese and zest, and less effort for you.

Care & Use Instructions
Daily cleaning: Take it apart and rinse under running water, then let it drip dry.
Washing: Handwash only, in warm soapy water. The dishwasher blunts and chips the blade over time.
