Quick Overview: The GLOBAL G-110 is a limited edition Japanese BBQ knife with a tall, curved 17.5cm Cromova 18 blade built for prepping and carving large cuts of meat.

The GLOBAL G-110 is a limited edition BBQ knife designed with serious outdoor cooks in mind, from backyard grill enthusiasts to professional pitmasters. Its 17.5cm curved blade is taller than a standard chef's knife, which gives you extra stability when working through large joints, whole shoulders or spatchcocked birds. The pointed tip makes trimming fat and connective tissue feel precise rather than clumsy, and the convex 15-degree edge slices cleanly through cooked and raw meat alike. Like all GLOBAL knives, it is made from Cromova 18 stainless steel in Japan, and the hollow, sand-filled handle keeps the weight perfectly balanced in your hand. If you take your BBQ seriously, this is the knife that belongs next to your tongs.

  • Pointed Tip: The sharp, narrow point gives you precise control when trimming fat, removing skin, and working around bones.
  • Taller Blade: The increased blade height provides extra stability and knuckle clearance when breaking down larger cuts of meat.
  • Curved Edge: A gently curved 17.5cm blade makes long slicing strokes and rocking cuts through cooked meat effortless.
  • 15-Degree Cutting Edge: GLOBAL's convex 15-degree grind produces a remarkably sharp edge that holds its sharpness far longer than a standard Western knife.
  • One-Piece Cromova 18 Steel: Made from a single piece of high-carbon stainless steel, the blade and handle have no joins where dirt or bacteria can accumulate.

What Customers Ask About This Product

Can this knife be used for everyday kitchen tasks as well as BBQ?

The G-110 is optimised for meat prep and BBQ work, but its curved blade and sharp edge make it genuinely useful in the kitchen too, particularly for slicing larger cuts or jointing poultry. That said, if you are looking for a general-purpose everyday knife, GLOBAL's chef's knife range would serve you better for vegetable prep and finer work.

How do I sharpen the GLOBAL G-110?

GLOBAL recommends using their own sharpening tools, which are designed specifically for the 15-degree edge angle. A whetstone or the GLOBAL MinoSharp ceramic wheel sharpener are both good options. Avoid using a standard honing steel or V-type sharpener, as these are not suited to the convex edge geometry.

What makes the GLOBAL handle different from other knife handles?

GLOBAL knives have hollow stainless steel handles filled with a precise amount of sand, which counterbalances the weight of the blade and creates a natural balance point at the bolster. There are no wood, plastic, or composite materials involved, so the handle is as easy to clean as the blade itself. The dimpled surface also improves grip, even with wet or oily hands.

How should I store the G-110?

To protect the edge, avoid storing it loose in a drawer alongside other cutlery, as contact with other items will blunt it quickly. A magnetic wall strip, knife block, or knife roll are all good options. GLOBAL produces its own knife blocks and storage solutions designed to fit the full range.

In our experience...

The edge angle is the most important difference between Japanese and European knives. Western kitchen knives are typically ground to 20-25 degrees per side. GLOBAL's 15-degree convex edge is noticeably sharper out of the box and slices through meat with much less resistance, which is often the first thing new owners comment on.

A taller blade makes a real difference at the BBQ. When you are working with a whole pork shoulder or a rack of ribs, a taller blade means your knuckles clear the cutting board and you have more surface area to guide the cut. It is one of those features you do not realise you needed until you try it.

GLOBAL knives feel lighter and more nimble than they look. The hollow handles keep the overall weight down while keeping the balance point right at the bolster. New users are often surprised by how easy they are to manoeuvre, even on extended prep sessions.

Cromova 18 steel resists rust but still needs proper drying. The alloy is genuinely more corrosion-resistant than most stainless steels, but any knife left in a wet sink or dishwasher will eventually discolour or pit. Drying it straight after washing is the single most effective thing you can do for long-term care.

A sharp knife is safer than a blunt one when prepping large cuts. When you are dealing with large, slippery joints of meat, a blunt knife requires more force and is far more likely to slip. Keeping the G-110's edge maintained gives you control rather than just speed.

Care & Use Instructions

Washing: Hand wash only in warm soapy water. Do not put this knife in the dishwasher, as harsh detergents and heat cycles can damage the edge and cause discolouration over time.

Drying: Dry the blade immediately after washing with a soft cloth. Leaving the knife wet or resting in a damp environment can cause surface marks, even on high-quality stainless steel.

Sharpening: Use a sharpening tool designed for 15-degree edges to maintain the blade. GLOBAL produces its own range of sharpening tools suited to this purpose, including the MinoSharp ceramic wheel sharpener.

Storage: Store on a magnetic knife rack, in a knife block, or in a knife roll. Avoid keeping the knife loose in a drawer, where the edge can be damaged by contact with other utensils.

What to avoid: Do not use on frozen food, hard bones, or ceramic surfaces. Avoid using a standard honing steel or V-type sharpener, as these are not suited to the convex 15-degree edge geometry.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
