What Customers Ask About This Product
Is it dishwasher safe?
No, handwash only and dry immediately, since dishwashers can blunt and chip the blade and reduce its lifespan.
What's it best used for?
Finely slicing and dicing vegetables, fruit, meat or fish, a genuinely versatile everyday blade.
Is this a good first Japanese knife?
Yes, it's specifically designed as an introduction to Global's sharpness and balance, making it a great first Japanese knife.
Why choose a Japanese cook's knife?
Global knives deliver unmatched sharpness thanks to Cromova 18 stainless steel ground to a 15 degree acute angle, holding a sharper edge for longer. Every Global knife is lightweight and precisely balanced with the traditional hollow, sand-filled handle for precise control and reduced hand fatigue.
In our experience...
A 'try me' knife is a genuine, considered introduction, not just a gimmick. It's specifically positioned to let new customers experience Global's actual sharpness and balance before committing to a larger purchase.
A sand-filled hollow handle is a deliberate Global design choice. It's specifically what balances the weight of the blade, giving the knife a comfortable, controlled feel rather than being blade-heavy.
A smaller cook's knife suits different jobs to a full-sized one. It's genuinely well suited to smaller, quicker tasks, without the reach and momentum a larger chef's knife provides.
One-piece construction is about hygiene as much as durability. Without seams or joins, there's nowhere for dirt or bacteria to collect, which matters for a knife used daily with raw food.
A convex 15 degree edge is genuinely different to a standard bevel. It's ground steeply to a fine point, which is specifically what lets it hold a sharper edge for longer than a conventional cutting angle.
