Quick Overview: The Kuhn Rikon Essential Grater Coarse shreds potato, carrot, courgette and semi-hard cheese in no time.

A compact coarse grater from Kuhn Rikon's Essential range, for rösti, fritters and grated cheese. Its razor-sharp blade cuts rather than tears, and the silicone edge keeps it steady on the worktop.

  • Razor-sharp blade: Stainless steel blade that cuts food cleanly instead of tearing it.
  • Non-slip silicone edge: A silicone edge on the base stops it sliding on the worktop.
  • Comfortable handle: A straight, easy-to-hold handle with an eyelet for hanging.
  • Compact shape: Slim enough to tuck into a drawer.

What Customers Ask About This Product

Which Essential grater should I choose?

The fine grater is for hard cheese, citrus, chocolate and nutmeg. The medium suits carrot, courgette, apple and hard cheese, and the coarse is for potato, carrot, courgette and semi-hard cheese.

Is it safe for children to use?

No. Kuhn Rikon advise that it isn't for children, as the blade is razor sharp and could cause injury. Keep it somewhere little hands can't reach.

In our experience...

Chill soft cheese before grating. Firm it up in the fridge or freezer for 15 to 20 minutes and it grates neatly instead of smearing across the blade.

Let the blade do the work. Sharp teeth need only light, steady strokes. Pressing hard doesn't grate faster and makes it easier to catch your knuckles.

Squeeze watery veg after grating. Courgette and potato hold a lot of water. Squeeze them in a clean tea towel before frying and they'll crisp instead of steam.

Republic of Ireland & Europe

Currently suspended:

It is not currently possible to deliver to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe. We hope to reinstate this service as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
