La Cafetiere Pisa Cafetiere - Retro Styling Meets Modern Performance
The La Cafetière Pisa combines classic French press design with thoughtful modern engineering. What Customers Ask About the La Cafetiere Pisa
What's the difference between the 3 cup and 8 cup models?
Both sizes feature borosilicate glass beakers and stainless steel filters. The 3 cup model (approximately 350ml) has a natural birch wood handle and measures 11.3 x 7 x 16.5cm. The 8 cup model (approximately 1 litre) measures 14.5 x 10 x 21cm. Choose based on how many people you typically serve.
Why is borosilicate glass better than standard glass?
Borosilicate glass has superior thermal shock resistance, meaning it can handle rapid temperature changes without cracking. It's also more resistant to scratches and chemical corrosion than standard soda-lime glass, and maintains clarity over time.
Does it come with a spare filter?
Yes, La Cafetière includes a spare fine mesh filter with every Pisa cafetiere. This extends the product's lifespan and ensures you always have a backup filter available.
Can I put the whole cafetiere in the dishwasher?
The wooden handle should never be soaked in wateras it will split and lose it's finish. You can remove the glass beaker from the cafetiere and that can safely go in the dishwasher.
How many standard mugs does each size serve?
The 3 cup model serves approximately 1-2 standard mugs, whilst the 8 cup model serves approximately 3-4 standard mugs. Cafetiere 'cup' sizes refer to espresso-style servings, not standard mug sizes.
What if the glass beaker breaks?
La Cafetière offers a 10-year guarantee covering manufacturing defects. Our own Half-Price Accidental Damage Replacement covers accidental breakage for 2 years from purchase with proof of purchase and evidence of damage.

Care & Use Instructions
Before First Use: Remove all packaging and labels. Disassemble the cafetiere and wash all components in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. This removes any manufacturing residue.
Daily Cleaning: The glass beaker is dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. The stainless steel filter assembly and frame should be hand washed in warm, soapy water. If your model has a birch wood handle, hand wash this component and dry promptly to preserve the wood's finish. The cafetiere fully disassembles, allowing you to clean every part thoroughly and prevent oil build-up.
For Best Brewing Results: Use coarsely ground coffee beans. Add coffee to the empty beaker, pour in water just off the boil, stir briefly, then place the plunger on top without pressing down. Allow to steep for 4 minutes, then slowly and steadily press the plunger down. Pour immediately to prevent over-extraction.
Filter Maintenance: The fine mesh filter may accumulate oils over time. Soak periodically in a solution of warm water and bicarbonate of soda, then rinse thoroughly. Use the spare filter when needed.
Avoiding Thermal Shock: Whilst borosilicate glass is highly resistant to thermal shock, avoid extreme temperature changes. Don't pour cold water into a hot beaker or place a hot beaker directly onto a cold surface.
