Quick Overview: The Le Creuset Cast Iron Pumpkin Shallow Casserole 28cm brings a lifelike pumpkin shape to braises and simmered stews.

Bring the vegetable patch to your table with our Cast Iron Pumpkin Shallow Casserole. Complete with a stem-shaped stainless steel knob, this centrepiece is ideal for autumnal tablescapes. Its flat shape enhances braising and simmering, making it ideal for fork-tender stews.

  • Quick cleanup: A light enamel interior helps make cleaning easier.
  • A real workhorse: Fit for the oven, hob, induction or under the grill.
  • Great tasting food: The cast iron construction retains heat for even cooking and browning, and your creations stay warmer at the table for longer.
  • Locks in moisture: A tight-fitting lid helps boost moisture and enhances flavour, for perfectly cooked food.
  • Not too hot: Cook with a steady, low to medium heat to take care of your cast iron and enjoy delicious results.

What Customers Ask About This Product

Is this dishwasher safe?

No, it should be washed by hand only, in warm soapy water.

What hob types can I use it on?

It's suited to gas, electric, ceramic glass and induction hobs, as well as the oven and under the grill.

How much does this casserole hold?

2.5L, generous enough for braises and simmered stews for the table.

In our experience...

A tight-fitting lid changes what the pot is good at. It's genuinely what helps lock in moisture, which is why this casserole suits slow-braised stews and soups so well.

Cast iron needs a gentler heat than it looks like it does. A steady, low to medium heat is genuinely what protects the enamel and gives the best results, even for searing.

The flat base is a deliberate cooking choice, not just a stability feature. It's specifically shaped to make stirring and browning easier across the whole surface.

A shallow, wide shape is built for braising rather than deep simmering. The flat base and shallower depth genuinely give food more surface contact with the heat, which is what makes fork-tender braises easier to achieve.

Care & Use Instructions

Before first use: Remove all labels and packaging, then wash in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before first use.

Cooking: Always use oven gloves when handling anything hot. Use Le Creuset silicone tools or wooden/heat-resistant plastic tools; metal utensils can be used with care but shouldn't be used harshly or scraped over the cooking surface, as this may cause damage. Use the most appropriately sized hob ring, which helps the food cook more evenly and reduces the risk of damage to the handles and sides, this matters especially on induction hobs, where the wrong-sized ring can stop the hob recognising the product. Cooking on a medium or low heat gets the best results, even for frying and searing, let the product heat up gradually and lower the setting again once it's reached temperature. Never slide the product across a glass-topped hob, as this may damage the product base and the glass, always lift it on, off, or across the surface instead.

Cleaning: Let the product cool down before cleaning it. Wipe any leftovers off the base and sides, and if food is stuck on, fill with warm, soapy water and leave to soak for 15 to 20 minutes before washing as usual. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents, metal pads, or harsh, stiff brushes on any surface. Dry well after washing and store in a dry place. Wash by hand only.

It is not currently possible to deliver to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe. We hope to reinstate this service as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.

Other Destinations

If your desired country or region is not listed, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
