What Customers Ask About Le Creuset Mini Heart Shaped Bowls
Are 80ml bowls big enough for actual serving?
Yes, 80ml is a practical size for individual portions of dips, sauces, or nibbles. It holds roughly 5-6 tablespoons, which suits hummus, aioli, olive tapenade, or a small serving of nuts or olives. For ramekin-style desserts like chocolate mousse or crème brûlée, the size is spot on. They're genuinely functional, not just decorative.
Can I use these for baking small desserts?
Absolutely. The 260°C heat tolerance means you can bake in them - they're suitable for individual chocolate fondants, crème brûlées, or mini gratins. The stoneware conducts heat evenly, which helps with consistent results. Just remember they'll be hot when they come out, so use oven gloves. The heart shape adds a nice touch to Valentine's desserts.
Will the colours fade or stain over time?
The glazed finish is designed to resist both staining and fading. Le Creuset's high-temperature firing process creates a durable surface that should maintain its appearance through regular use and dishwasher cycles. Strongly coloured foods like beetroot or turmeric might leave temporary marks, but these typically wash off. White may show staining more readily than the coloured bowls.
Can these go straight from freezer to oven?
The stoneware is thermoresistant from -23°C to +260°C, so technically yes. However, avoid extreme temperature shocks - let frozen items come to room temperature for 10-15 minutes first, or place in a cold oven and heat gradually. Sudden temperature changes can cause thermal shock even in resistant materials. This protects both the bowls and your food.
Are these just for Valentine's Day or can I use them year-round?
They're fully functional year-round bowls that happen to have hearts on them. How often you use them depends on your style - some people keep them out for regular entertaining, others bring them out specifically for Valentine's, anniversaries, or romantic dinners. The colour range means they work with different table settings beyond just Valentine's themes.
How do these compare to ceramic ramekins?
Le Creuset's stoneware is fired at higher temperatures than standard ceramics, making it more durable and better at maintaining temperature. It's also more resistant to chipping and thermal shock. The main difference from your typical ramekin is the heart shape and the wider temperature tolerance - these can handle freezer storage where some ceramics can't.

Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Remove all packaging and labels. Wash in hot soapy water or run through the dishwasher, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.
Serving cold foods: These bowls work brilliantly for cold dips, nibbles, or chilled desserts. The stoneware helps maintain temperature, keeping cold items cool at the table. Safe for freezer storage down to -23°C.
Serving warm foods: For warm dips or sauces, you can heat directly in the microwave or oven up to 260°C. The stoneware distributes heat evenly and retains warmth well. Always use oven gloves when handling hot bowls.
Baking use: Suitable for baking individual desserts like fondants, crème brûlées, or mini gratins. The heart shape adds charm to Valentine's or anniversary desserts. Preheat oven with bowls inside for best results with certain recipes.
Daily cleaning: Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. For hand washing, use warm soapy water and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. The glazed surface resists staining and food residue wipes away easily.
Removing stubborn stains: If strongly coloured foods like beetroot or turmeric leave marks, soak in hot soapy water or make a paste with bicarbonate of soda and water. The white bowl may show staining more readily than the coloured ones.
Storage: Stack carefully with the heaviest on the bottom, or store with soft cloth between bowls to prevent chips. Ensure completely dry before storing. The heart shape means they nest together reasonably well.
Avoid: Sudden extreme temperature changes - let frozen items warm slightly before adding to hot oven, or place in cold oven and heat gradually. Don't use on hobs or direct flame. Avoid metal utensils which may scratch the glaze.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I've used them and don't like them?
Return them anyway. Our no quibble guarantee covers used items - if they don't do what you wanted, we'll refund you. This applies even after you've served food in them. We've offered this guarantee since 1972 because customers shouldn't take a risk when buying quality products.
How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?
Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally chip or break one of these bowls, we'll replace it at half the current retail price with proof of purchase and evidence of damage. Photos are acceptable. This covers accidental breakage but not damage from misuse (such as thermal shock from extreme temperature changes). Contact us with your proof of purchase and we'll arrange the replacement.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses takes up to 7 working days (usually 3-4) and is free for orders over £49. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
Are these suitable as a gift?
Absolutely. They make a lovely Valentine's Day gift, anniversary present, or housewarming token for couples. The set comes in attractive Le Creuset packaging. We can include gift receipts upon request. Many customers buy them for themselves and then decide to gift them once they see how charming they are.
Can I buy individual bowls in specific colours?
These are sold as a set of four with one of each colour. Le Creuset designs these seasonal collections as complete sets. If you prefer a specific colour from the range, it's worth checking if that shade is available in other Le Creuset stoneware items you could mix and match.
Do other Le Creuset Valentine's pieces coordinate with these?
Yes, Le Creuset offers a wider Valentine's Day Collection that may include mugs, larger bowls, and other items in coordinating colours. The Cerise, Shallot and Peche shades appear across various Le Creuset ranges, so you can build a matching set if desired. Check our Le Creuset section for other available pieces.
Will this work with your price match guarantee?
Yes. If you've seen this identical Le Creuset Valentine's Mini Heart Bowls set cheaper elsewhere, tell us where. If it's available with our competitor on the day you contact us, we'll match the price. The item must be identical (same set of 4 bowls) and the competitor must be a UK retailer with physical stores.
What's the difference between Le Creuset stoneware and their cast iron?
Cast iron is for stovetop and oven cooking - heavy, excellent heat retention, but needs careful maintenance. Stoneware like these bowls is for serving and oven use - lighter, dishwasher safe, no seasoning needed. Stoneware doesn't work on hobs. Both materials are exceptionally durable, just designed for different purposes. Many customers have both in their kitchen.
