Quick Overview: Two-piece stoneware set with milk jug and sugar bowl in larger capacities for hosting, featuring Le Creuset's three-ring design.

Le Creuset Milk & Sugar Set

The Le Creuset Milk & Sugar Set addresses a practical need for breakfast service and coffee or tea hosting: keeping milk at a stable temperature whilst sugar remains accessible on the table. Stoneware's thermal properties work better than thin porcelain or glass - the thick walls keep cold milk cooler for longer, reducing trips to the refrigerator during breakfast or afternoon tea with guests.

Le Creuset designed this set with larger capacities specifically for hosting situations. When serving multiple guests, standard milk jugs require constant refilling and small sugar bowls run empty quickly. The increased capacity means fewer interruptions during service. The iconic three-ring design provides visual coordination with Le Creuset cast iron whilst the non-porous glazed surface resists staining from milk residue or sugar moisture.

Key features:

  • Larger capacities: Sized for hosting multiple guests with fewer refills
  • Two-piece set: Milk jug and sugar bowl designed as coordinated pair
  • Superior temperature retention: Thick stoneware walls keep milk cooler longer
  • Microwave-safe jug: Heat cold milk directly before serving
  • Non-porous glazed surface: Won't absorb milk odours or develop sugar staining
  • Thermoresistant construction: Withstands -23°C to 260°C for varied uses
  • Dishwasher-safe: Easy cleaning for both pieces
  • Iconic three-ring design: Matches Le Creuset cast iron cookware collection
  • 10 year manufacturer guarantee: Exceptional warranty reflects build quality

This set is designed for households that regularly host breakfast, coffee, or tea gatherings and want tableware that maintains quality service without constant attention.

What Customers Ask About the Milk & Sugar Set

Why use stoneware for milk and sugar service?

Stoneware's thermal properties help maintain milk temperature better than thin porcelain or glass. The thick walls keep cold milk cooler for longer at the breakfast table, reducing the need for constant refrigerator trips. For hot milk in coffee or tea service, stoneware retains warmth without becoming dangerously hot to handle. The non-porous glazed surface won't absorb odours from milk or develop staining from sugar, unlike some materials.

What makes these 'larger capacities' suitable for hosting?

Le Creuset designed this set with increased capacity compared to standard milk jugs and sugar bowls. Larger capacity means fewer refills when serving multiple guests - practical for breakfast gatherings, afternoon tea, or dinner parties where several people need milk for coffee or tea.

Can I microwave milk in the jug?

Yes. The stoneware is thermoresistant from -23°C to +260°C and microwave-safe. You can heat cold milk directly in the jug before serving. Use short bursts (30-45 seconds) and stir between heating to ensure even temperature. The stoneware will be hot after microwaving, so use oven gloves or a cloth when handling.

Does this set come in more colours?

Currently these are the only colours available for this set. Le Creuset doesn't release every product they make in every colour which may be disappointing for those who want to stick to one colour.

How do I prevent milk smell from lingering in the jug?

Rinse the jug immediately after use with cold water, then wash in hot, soapy water. The non-porous glazed surface won't absorb milk odours if cleaned promptly. If you notice any smell developing, fill the jug with a solution of bicarbonate of soda and warm water, leave for 30 minutes, then wash thoroughly. The dishwasher's high-temperature cycle is also effective for removing any lingering odours.

Can I use the sugar bowl for other purposes?

Yes. The bowl works for serving any dry condiments, sweeteners, or small items - brown sugar, sugar cubes, sweetener tablets, preserves in individual portions, or even small biscuits. The stoneware is versatile and the larger capacity makes it practical for various table service needs beyond just granulated sugar.

Care & Use Instructions

Before first use: Remove all labels and packaging. Wash both the milk jug and sugar bowl in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Using the milk jug: Pour cold milk from the refrigerator just before service for best temperature retention. The stoneware will keep it cooler for longer than thin glass or porcelain. If you need warm milk for coffee or tea, you can microwave it directly in the jug using short bursts (30-45 seconds), stirring between heating.

Using the sugar bowl: Store granulated sugar, caster sugar, sugar cubes, or sweetener tablets. The bowl's larger capacity means fewer refills when hosting. Keep the bowl dry to prevent sugar from clumping.

Daily cleaning: Rinse the milk jug immediately after use with cold water to prevent milk residue from drying. Wash both pieces in warm, soapy water by hand, or place in the dishwasher for a full cycle. For milk jugs, ensure all residue is removed from the pouring lip and handle join.

Removing milk odours: If milk smell persists despite washing, fill the jug with a solution of bicarbonate of soda and warm water. Leave for 30 minutes, then wash thoroughly. The dishwasher's high-temperature cycle is also effective for odour removal.

Storage: Store in a clean, dry location. The milk jug can go in the refrigerator if you want to pre-chill it before use, though this isn't necessary. The sugar bowl should be kept in a dry cupboard when not in use.

Avoid: Don't leave milk in the jug at room temperature for extended periods - refrigerate if not using within 2 hours. Don't store damp sugar in the bowl. Don't place empty stoneware in extremely hot ovens (though the pieces can withstand 260°C if heated gradually).

It is not currently possible to deliver to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe. We hope to reinstate this service as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed — including the USA, Australia, and other destinations — this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222996 with the details of your order. We will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours and ask whether you would like to proceed.

Before you order internationally, please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.
