The Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction builds on the standard Barista Touch Impress by adding pre-programmed cold coffee options, including cold brew and cold espresso extracted in under 3 and 2 minutes respectively. The Impress Puck System handles dosing and tamping automatically at 10kg of pressure with a 7° barista twist, with Precision Measurement correcting the next dose based on the previous outcome. Auto MilQ textures milk hands-free with calibrated settings for dairy, soy, almond, and oat across 8 texture levels and a temperature range of 40 to 75°C. The ThermoJet heating system reaches extraction temperature in 3 seconds. Fourteen café favourite presets and 6 customisable drink slots are accessible via the touchscreen, with step-by-step Barista Guidance throughout.
- Cold Brew and Cold Espresso presets: Pre-programmed cold extraction recipes produce cold brew in under 3 minutes and cold espresso in under 2 minutes by extracting at lower temperatures, reducing acidity for a lighter flavour profile.
- Impress Puck System with Precision Measurement: Automated dosing and 10kg assisted tamping with a 7° barista twist, with auto-correction of the next dose based on the previous grind and tamp outcome.
- Auto MilQ hands-free milk texturing: Calibrated settings for dairy, soy, almond, and oat milk with adjustable temperature (40 to 75°C) and 8 texture levels for silky microfoam suitable for latte art.
- ThermoJet heating system: Reaches optimal extraction temperature in 3 seconds, designed to use less energy annually compared to a Thermoblock heating system, based on internal benchmark testing as of November 2022.
- Touchscreen with 14 presets and Barista Guidance: An improved touchscreen provides step-by-step real-time guidance from grinding to pouring, with 14 café favourite presets and 6 customisable drink slots.
What Customers Ask About This Product
What is the difference between this and the standard Barista Touch Impress?
The key addition is cold extraction. This version includes pre-programmed cold brew and cold espresso presets, along with a total of 14 café favourite presets including Espresso Shakerato, Latte Shakerato, and Espresso Martini that the standard model does not include. The Impress Puck System, Auto MilQ, ThermoJet heating, and touchscreen interface are otherwise the same.
How does cold extraction work on this machine?
Cold extraction brews at lower temperatures than standard espresso, which reduces acidic notes and produces a lighter, smoother flavour profile. Cold brew takes under 3 minutes and cold espresso under 2 minutes, both considerably faster than traditional cold brew methods. The results can be served over ice or used as a base for cold coffee recipes.
How does the Impress Puck System differ from manual tamping?
Manual tamping introduces variability in pressure, angle, and distribution that affects extraction consistency. The Impress Puck System applies a consistent 10kg of pressure with a 7° barista twist every time, and Precision Measurement monitors the outcome of each cycle and automatically adjusts the next dose to correct any variance. This removes two of the most common sources of inconsistency in home espresso.
Which milk types does Auto MilQ support?
Auto MilQ has calibrated texturing settings for dairy, soy, almond, and oat milk. Each type has a different fat and protein profile that affects how it steams, so the dedicated settings adjust air injection time and temperature for each milk to produce more consistent microfoam than a single generic steam setting.
In our experience...
Cold extraction produces a fundamentally different flavour to iced hot espresso. Pouring hot espresso over ice dilutes the shot and can produce a harsh, acidic result as the coffee cools quickly. Extracting at lower temperatures from the start reduces the acidic compounds that develop during hot extraction, producing a smoother, lighter cup that works better as a cold drink in its own right.
Consistent tamping is one of the hardest skills to develop manually. Even experienced home baristas struggle to apply exactly the same pressure and angle every time. Small differences in tamp affect how water flows through the puck, which changes extraction. Automated tamping at a fixed pressure removes this variable entirely, which is why it makes a noticeable difference to shot-to-shot consistency.
Precision Measurement learns from your machine, not from a factory average. Different coffee beans have different densities, which means the same grind time produces different doses depending on the roast. Precision Measurement adjusts based on what your specific machine produced on the last shot, which is more accurate than a fixed factory setting that cannot account for your particular beans.
Alternative milk settings matter because the milks behave very differently. Oat milk foams well but separates easily if overheated. Soy milk can split if steamed too aggressively. Almond milk froths differently from dairy due to its lower protein content. A machine that adjusts temperature and air injection for each type produces more reliable microfoam than one applying a universal steam profile.
The Barista Guidance system is most useful in the first few weeks. Step-by-step feedback helps you understand what the machine is doing at each stage and why, which accelerates the learning process. Once you have made a few hundred shots and understand the variables, you are less likely to need it, but the option to refer back is useful when switching to a new bean or adjusting your recipe.

Care & Use Instructions
Daily maintenance: After steaming milk, purge the steam wand briefly and wipe immediately with a damp cloth. Rinse the portafilter and filter baskets after each use. Empty the grounds container and drip tray regularly.
Cleaning the Impress mechanism: Wipe the Impress Puck System tamper and dosing area with a dry cloth after each use to remove retained grounds. Brush the surrounding area clean using the included cleaning brush.
Weekly cleaning: Remove and wash the drip tray, water tank, and milk jug. Use the cleaning brush to clear the group head and grinder chute. Wipe down all exterior surfaces with a damp cloth.
Regular backflushing: Use the cleaning disc and a cleaning tablet to backflush the group head periodically. This clears built-up coffee oils from the internal pathways and keeps extraction consistent.
Descaling and filter replacement: Replace the water filter as recommended, typically every 2 to 3 months depending on water hardness and usage. If you notice a change in performance, use the included descale powder and follow the descaling programme in the instruction manual.
For best results: Use fresh quality beans stored in an airtight container. Adjust grind size if extraction is too fast (grind finer) or too slow (grind coarser). Purge the group head briefly before locking in the portafilter.
