The compact 16 x 14cm size suits individual serving dishes, small pots, or teapots without dominating your table setting. What Customers Ask About Hexagon Trivet
Is 16 x 14cm large enough for standard cookware?
This size suits individual serving dishes, small casseroles (up to approximately 18cm diameter), teapots, and similar smaller cookware. It's not designed for large family-sized casserole dishes or roasting tins. Measure your most frequently used oven-to-table cookware before purchasing. If you regularly serve from larger dishes, you may need a bigger trivet or multiple trivets placed together.
Will the silicone material damage my table surface?
Silicone is a non-marking, flexible material that protects rather than damages surfaces. The material creates a barrier between hot cookware and your table without scratching or marking wood, glass, or other table surfaces. The slight flexibility of silicone also means it sits flat against surfaces, providing stable support.
Can I use this as a pot holder or oven glove?
Whilst the silicone is heat resistant to 250°C, this trivet is designed specifically as a surface protector rather than a hand-held pot holder. The thin 0.9cm profile and lack of insulation between layers means it's not suitable for gripping hot cookware. Use proper oven gloves for handling hot items, then place them on the trivet once on the table or worktop.
Which colours are currently available?
Zone Denmark produces the Hexagon Trivet in multiple colours including sludgy green. Specific colour availability varies by stock and season. Contact us to confirm which colours we currently have in stock, or check the colour selector on the product page if multiple options are shown.
Will the hexagon pattern trap food or crumbs?
The raised hexagon pattern is relatively shallow and the smooth silicone surface cleans easily. Whilst the pattern provides visual interest and potentially some grip, it's not so deep that food becomes trapped. A quick wash in the dishwasher or by hand removes any residue that may settle in the pattern.

Care & Use Instructions
First use: Wash the trivet before first use in warm, soapy water or run through the dishwasher to remove any manufacturing residue. Dry completely before using.
Daily use: Place the trivet on your table or worktop before setting down hot cookware. Ensure the trivet is positioned on a stable, flat surface. The silicone provides heat protection, but very hot items (near 250°C) should not be left on the trivet for extended periods on heat-sensitive surfaces—allow items to cool slightly if concerned.
Dishwasher cleaning: The trivet is dishwasher safe. Place it on either rack—the flexible silicone won't warp or degrade from dishwasher heat. The smooth surface and shallow pattern mean food residue rinses away easily during the cycle.
Handwashing: If you prefer handwashing, use warm soapy water and a cloth or sponge. The silicone surface cleans easily without scrubbing. Rinse thoroughly and either towel dry or allow to air dry. Silicone dries quickly due to its non-porous nature.
Storage: Store flat in a drawer or cupboard. The thin 0.9cm profile means it takes up minimal space. You can stack multiple trivets together or store this trivet beneath other kitchen textiles without damaging the hexagon pattern. Silicone is flexible, so it can bend slightly during storage without permanent deformation.
What to avoid: Don't place extremely hot items (above 250°C) directly on the trivet, as this exceeds the heat resistance threshold. Don't use sharp knives or utensils directly on the trivet, as these may cut the silicone. Don't use the trivet as an oven glove—it's designed for surface protection only. Don't expose silicone to open flames.
Longevity: Silicone is highly durable and resistant to staining, but strongly pigmented foods (like turmeric or beetroot) left sitting on the trivet may cause slight discolouration over time. Prompt cleaning after use prevents this. With proper care, silicone trivets typically last for many years without degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I've used it and don't like it?
Return it anyway. Our no quibble guarantee covers used items - if it doesn't do what you wanted, we'll refund you. This applies even after you've used the trivet. We've offered this guarantee since 1972 because we believe customers shouldn't take a risk when purchasing homeware.
How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?
Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally damage or cut the trivet, we'll replace it at half the current retail price with proof of purchase and evidence of damage. Photos of the damage are acceptable. This provides peace of mind beyond typical product warranties.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take up to 7 working days, but is usually 3-4, and is free for orders over £49. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
Can I buy multiple colours to mix and match?
Yes, Zone Denmark designs the Hexagon Trivet collection to coordinate across colours. Many customers purchase multiple trivets in different colours to create visual interest on the table or to have enough trivets for multiple dishes during entertaining. Contact us to discuss which colours are currently in stock.
Does silicone absorb odours from food?
High-quality silicone like that used in Zone Denmark products is non-porous and typically doesn't absorb odours. However, strongly aromatic foods left sitting on silicone for extended periods may leave slight temporary odours. Washing promptly after use prevents this, and any lingering odours typically dissipate after washing.
Will this work on all table surfaces?
Yes, the silicone trivet is suitable for wood, glass, laminate, marble, and other table surfaces. The non-marking material protects without scratching. For very delicate or antique surfaces, you may still want to use a tablecloth as an additional layer of protection, though the trivet itself won't cause damage.
Can this go in the oven or microwave?
Silicone is oven-safe to 250°C, but this trivet is designed as a surface protector rather than cookware. We wouldn't recommend using it in the oven as it's not structured to hold food or cookware safely in that environment. It's not designed for microwave use either—use it strictly as a protective mat for serving.
Is the trivet completely flat or does it have feet?
The hexagon pattern creates slight texture but the trivet is essentially flat against surfaces. The silicone flexibility means it conforms to surface irregularities, sitting flush against tables or worktops. This flat design maximises stability for cookware placed on top.
