The Le Creuset Non-Stick Ceramic Sauté Pan offers more depth than a standard frying pan, which makes it a genuinely useful piece for pan-frying, sautéing, and braising in the same vessel. The wide cooking surface gives ingredients room to brown without crowding, and the included glass lid adds the option to simmer and retain moisture when the recipe calls for it. Like the rest of the Essential Non-Stick Ceramic range, it uses a PFAS-free coating over a forged aluminium body with an induction-compatible encased steel disc.
- PFAS-free ceramic coating: Applied all over the pan, the ceramic coating provides strong non-stick release and wipes clean easily, and is made without PFAS.
- Forged heavy-gauge aluminium body: The forged aluminium construction distributes heat evenly across the cooking surface, reducing hot spots and helping food cook consistently.
- Fully encased stainless steel induction disc: A stainless steel disc is permanently encased in the base, making the pan fully compatible with induction hobs as well as all other heat sources.
- Oven safe to 280 degrees C: The pan can go from hob to oven up to 280 degrees C, or 220 degrees C with a Le Creuset glass lid, adding versatility to hob-to-oven cooking.
- Metal utensil safe and warp-resistant: The durable coating can withstand contact with metal utensils, and a reinforced rim prevents the pan from warping over time.
What Customers Ask About This Product
Is this compatible with induction hobs?
Yes. All Le Creuset Essential Non-Stick Ceramic pieces have a fully encased stainless steel disc in the base, which makes them compatible with induction as well as gas, electric, ceramic glass, and grill.
Can I use metal utensils with this pan?
Yes, the coating is rated as metal utensil safe. That said, using silicone or wooden tools as a first preference will help the coating last longer. Sharp or cutting implements directly in the pan are best avoided.
Does the lid come included?
No, the glass lid is sold separately. The pan is oven safe to 280 degrees C without a lid, or 220 degrees C when used with a Le Creuset heat-resistant glass lid.
Can I use this for braising as well as sauteing?
Yes. The added depth compared to a standard frying pan gives you enough room to add liquid and braise. The tempered glass lid fits snugly to circulate steam and retain moisture, which is exactly what braising needs. The pan is also oven safe to 280 degrees C without the lid, or 220 degrees C with the Le Creuset glass lid fitted.
In our experience...
PFAS-free is a meaningful distinction, not just a marketing phrase. PFAS are a group of synthetic chemicals used in many traditional non-stick coatings. Ceramic coatings avoid them entirely. Whether you consider that a health concern or simply prefer it, the distinction is real.
Ceramic coatings work best at lower temperatures than traditional non-stick. The coating does not need high heat to perform well. Medium heat is usually sufficient, and cooking on lower settings tends to give better results and extends the coating's life.
The forged aluminium base makes a noticeable difference on induction. Thin-based pans can create uneven heat on induction hobs, with a ring of intense heat at the centre. The forged body and encased disc spread that heat more evenly across the base.
Metal utensil safe does not mean abrasion-proof. The coating can handle contact with metal tools during normal cooking, but scraping or cutting hard food directly in the pan will shorten its life. Using a silicone spatula as a first choice is still the better habit.
Le Creuset's 10-year guarantee is worth registering promptly. The guarantee covers manufacturing defects, but you need to register with proof of purchase to activate it. It takes a few minutes on Le Creuset's website and is worth doing before the receipt gets lost.

Care & Use Instructions
Everyday cleaning: Wash by hand with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge after each use. The ceramic coating releases food easily, so soaking is rarely needed.
Dishwasher use: The pan is dishwasher-safe, though hand washing is recommended to maintain the coating and extend the life of the finish.
Cooking temperature: The ceramic coating performs best on low to medium heat. High heat is rarely needed and can accelerate wear on any non-stick surface over time.
Utensils: Metal utensils can be used, but silicone or wooden tools will extend the life of the coating. Avoid sharp or cutting implements directly in the pan.
What to avoid: Do not use aerosol cooking sprays, as these can build up on the ceramic surface and reduce its release properties. Do not stack pans directly without protection between them.
