What Customers Ask About the Coupe Cereal Bowl
What does 'coupe' mean for a cereal bowl?
Coupe refers to the smooth, rimless design without a pronounced lip or flange. The bowl's edge curves seamlessly into the sides, creating a contemporary, streamlined look. This style is popular in modern tableware for its clean aesthetic and efficient stacking.
Is 770ml capacity sufficient for cereal portions?
Yes, 770ml is generous for cereal - substantially larger than standard bowls (typically 400-500ml). This size accommodates hearty breakfast portions, granola with yoghurt and fruit, porridge, or soup. The 16cm diameter provides ample surface area whilst the depth prevents spillage.
Will these bowls stack efficiently for storage?
Yes, the coupe design with its smooth, rimless shape is specifically engineered to stack efficiently. Multiple bowls nest together compactly, saving cupboard space. This is one of the practical advantages of coupe-style tableware over traditional rimmed designs.
Can I use this bowl under the grill?
Yes, but maintain at least 6.5cm gap between the top of the bowl and the heating element. This prevents concentrated heat that could cause thermal shock. The bowl is suitable for dishes like French onion soup with melted cheese on top, but ensure proper distance from the grill.
Are all 11 colours the same price and specification?
The specifications (capacity, dimensions, materials) are identical across all colour variants. Pricing may vary by colour depending on availability and Le Creuset's seasonal ranges. Check the colour selector on the product page for current pricing and availability of each shade.

Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Remove all labels and packaging. Wash your bowl in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
Thermal shock prevention: Stoneware is durable but can crack if subjected to sudden temperature changes. Never place a frozen bowl into a preheated oven - instead, place it in a cold oven and allow both to heat up together. If heating a room-temperature bowl, you can preheat the oven normally. When adding liquid to a hot bowl, ensure the liquid isn't ice-cold to prevent thermal shock.
Oven use: Safe to 260°C for baking individual portions of desserts, gratins, or warming dishes. Always use oven gloves when handling hot stoneware. The material retains heat exceptionally well, so bowls remain hot for several minutes after removing from the oven.
Microwave use: Safe for reheating soup, porridge, or other foods. The bowl will become hot during microwaving, so use the rim to handle or use a cloth. Stir food during heating for even temperature distribution.
Under the grill: Maintain at least 6.5cm gap between the top of the bowl and the heating element. This is crucial for preventing concentrated heat that could cause cracking. Suitable for finishing dishes with melted cheese or browned toppings.
Cleaning: Allow the bowl to cool before washing. Whilst dishwasher-safe for full cycles, we recommend hand-washing to preserve the glaze's lustre over time. For stuck-on food, soak in warm, soapy water for 15-20 minutes before washing. Dry thoroughly after washing.
Storage: The coupe design stacks efficiently. Ensure bowls are completely dry before stacking to prevent moisture issues. Can be stored in the fridge or freezer - just remember the thermal shock guidelines when moving from cold to hot environments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I've used it and don't like it?
Return it anyway. Our no quibble guarantee covers used items - if it doesn't do what you wanted, we'll refund you. This applies even after you've used it.
How does the Half-Price Replacement guarantee work?
Valid for 2 years from purchase date. If you accidentally break this item, we'll replace it at half price with proof of purchase and evidence of breakage. Photos of the damage are acceptable.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses can take up to 7 working days, but is usually 3-4, and is free for orders over £49. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. You can also collect from our shops in Cobham or Reigate, or our warehouse in Redhill.
Can I put this from freezer directly into the oven?
Never place a frozen bowl into a preheated oven - this risks thermal shock and cracking. Instead, place it in a cold oven and allow both to heat up together gradually. This is Le Creuset's standard guidance for all stoneware to prevent damage from sudden temperature changes.
Is this dishwasher safe?
Yes, Le Creuset stoneware is dishwasher-safe for full cycles. However, we recommend hand-washing to preserve the glaze's lustre over time. Hand-washing is gentler and helps maintain the exterior finish, particularly for coloured glazes.
Will the glaze chip or crack easily?
Le Creuset stoneware is chip and scratch-resistant due to its specialist fired clay construction and durable glaze. However, dropping the bowl on hard surfaces or knocking it against hard objects can cause damage. The 10 year guarantee covers manufacturing defects but not accidental damage from misuse.
Can I use metal utensils in this bowl?
Yes, the scratch-resistant glaze can handle metal utensils during normal use. However, avoid cutting or scoring directly on the surface with knives, as repeated harsh contact can eventually mark the glaze despite its scratch resistance.
