What Customers Ask About This Product
Is it dishwasher safe?
We recommend handwashing rather than the dishwasher, to protect the non-stick coating and help it last.
Do I need high heat for good results?
No, we'd actually recommend the opposite. Hard anodised aluminium conducts heat so efficiently that medium heat gives excellent results, and high heat is the main cause of non-stick coatings wearing out early.
Can I use metal utensils?
We recommend silicone or wooden utensils instead. Metal can be used with care, but even a single careless scrape can permanently damage the coating.
Which size should I choose?
It comes in four sizes, 24cm, 26cm, 28cm and 30cm, so it depends on how much you typically cook. The 26cm and above include a helper handle.
In our experience...
High sides genuinely change what a frying pan can do. They mean it can handle a simmering sauce or stew, not just frying, since food and liquid stay contained.
This pan doesn't need the heat people assume it does. Hard anodised aluminium conducts heat so efficiently that medium heat, even a little lower than feels intuitive, gives excellent results without shortening the coating's life.
An empty pan is more vulnerable than a full one. With nowhere for heat to go, an empty pan overheats far faster than one with oil or food in it, so it should never be left heating unattended.
Thorough washing matters more than a quick wipe. Grease can carbonise on the surface if it isn't washed properly in hot soapy water after every use, which is the second biggest cause of non-stick failure after overheating.
Specifications
Care & Use Instructions
Before first use: Wash in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
Heat setting: Always cook on medium heat, even for stir-frying or searing. Hard anodised aluminium conducts heat so efficiently that high heat gives no real benefit and is the single biggest cause of non-stick coatings failing early. If in doubt, use a lower setting than feels intuitive.
Preheating: Preheat for around 2 minutes before adding oil or food. Never leave the pan heating empty for longer than this, or unattended, as an empty pan overheats far faster than one with food or oil in it.
Utensils: We recommend silicone or wooden utensils. Metal utensils can technically be used with care, but we don't recommend them, since the coating is only microns thick and even a single careless scrape can cause permanent damage.
Induction hobs: Use a moderate setting and avoid the 'boost' function, which heats too quickly for non-stick cookware.
Glass hobs: Never slide the pan across a glass-topped hob, as this can damage both the base and the glass. Always lift it on, off, or across the surface.
Oven use: Place on a shelf or rack rather than the oven floor, which can increase cooking temperature and lead to damage. When using under the grill, leave at least a 5cm gap between the heat source and the top of the pan.
Washing: We recommend handwashing in hot soapy water after every use, rather than the dishwasher, to protect the coating and help it last.
Storage: If stacking with other pans, place a cloth or protector between them to avoid scratching the non-stick surface.
