What Customers Ask About Le Creuset Pasta Bowl 22cm

What makes this different from regular pasta bowls?

Le Creuset's specialist stoneware maintains temperature far longer than standard ceramic bowls—your pasta stays warm throughout the meal rather than cooling rapidly. The scratch-resistant glaze withstands years of cutlery contact without showing wear, whilst the non-porous surface prevents tomato sauce staining or garlic odour absorption common with inferior materials. The curved sides make it comfortable to eat from whilst the three-ring rim design adds the distinctive Le Creuset quality.

Can I use this bowl in the oven for individual baked dishes?

Yes, the bowl is oven-safe up to 260°C. Use it for individual portions of baked mac and cheese, pasta gratins, or personal lasagnes. If the bowl is at room temperature, place it in a cold oven and heat gradually together—don't preheat above 205°C. For frozen preparations, place the frozen bowl in a cold oven and allow both to heat together. Always use oven gloves when handling, as the stoneware retains heat exceptionally well.

How does the three-ring design benefit me?

The three-ring rim is Le Creuset's signature design feature that appears on their cast iron cookware. If you own or plan to acquire Le Creuset cast iron pieces, this bowl coordinates beautifully for a cohesive collection. Beyond aesthetics, the rim provides a comfortable grip point when handling the bowl. The design has become iconic—instantly recognisable as Le Creuset quality.

Is 22cm large enough for a proper pasta serving?

The 22cm diameter provides generous capacity for adult pasta portions. The curved sides create comfortable usable volume for standard pasta servings with sauce. If you prefer very large portions or regularly serve pasta as the sole course, measure your typical serving to verify this suits your needs.

Can this bowl withstand daily dishwasher use?

Yes, Le Creuset stoneware is fully dishwasher safe. The Juniper colour is fired at extreme temperatures, creating a glass-like surface where the colour is integral to the glaze rather than painted decoration. Years of dishwasher cycles won't fade, dull, or alter the colour. The scratch-resistant glaze maintains its appearance through regular dishwasher cleaning.

Care & Use Instructions

Before first use: Remove all labels and packaging. Wash in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Pre-warming for hot dishes: To keep pasta, risotto, or other hot dishes warm throughout meals, pre-warm the bowl in a low oven (70-90°C) for 10-15 minutes before serving. The specialist stoneware retains heat excellently, maintaining food temperature whilst you eat. Use oven gloves when handling warmed bowls.

Using for cold dishes: For pasta salads, grain salads, or chilled preparations, refrigerate the bowl beforehand. The stoneware keeps cold dishes pleasantly cool throughout serving.

Oven use: When baking individual dishes, if the bowl is at room temperature, place it in a cold oven and heat gradually together—don't preheat above 205°C. For frozen preparations, place the frozen bowl in a cold oven and allow both to heat together. Never place frozen stoneware into a preheated oven. When using under the grill, maintain at least 6.5cm between the heat source and the bowl top.

Daily cleaning: Allow the bowl to cool completely before washing. Wipe away food residue. For dried pasta sauce or cheese, soak briefly in warm, soapy water to soften before washing. Hand wash and dry, or place in the dishwasher securely.

Removing stubborn stains: Tomato-based sauces may cause slight staining if left for extended periods. Create a paste of baking soda and water, apply to stained areas, let sit briefly, then scrub gently with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Prompt cleaning after meals prevents most staining.

Storage: Store the bowl clean and dry. If you own multiple bowls, they can be stacked reasonably efficiently. Consider placing paper towels or soft cloths between bowls during long-term storage to prevent any potential scratching, though the scratch-resistant glaze is quite robust.

Avoid: Never plunge hot stoneware into cold water—this creates thermal shock that may cause cracking. When adding liquid to a hot bowl in the oven, remove it first and allow to cool for a few minutes. Don't use on hob or stovetop—this stoneware is designed for oven and table use.
