Hydrate Smarter: ZeroWater Filter Offer
Andrew discusses these clever water filters and has an offer to match.
A very quick email this week as I’ve been in the warehouse a lot and generally been run a bit ragged. This always happens at this time of year and I’m not grumbling because, if we weren’t this hectic now, we’d be in a pretty sorry state next year. In common with many retail businesses, it’s this time of year when we make the profit that is then used up over the following 10 months or so.
So, the madness of Black Friday and Christmas does take a toll on everyone’s time, mine included.
To product therefore, without a moment to spare.
Zero Water Filter System
We've recently started to stock a range of water filter jugs and dispensers called Zero, that seem to have some unique features, not least of which is the impact that it has on the flavour of the tap water. And, that is simply that it tastes better, sweeter somehow, maybe less metallic…? But I suppose that if you are in the market for a water filter, it’s more likely to be because either the water is hard in your area, or that you are concerned about the amount of contaminants, or both.
Well, as you can see from the table below, the ZeroWater filter compared to the market leader Brita, fares pretty well in removing over 99% of many contaminants. It appears to perform pretty well at this job even after putting through 150 litres of water through its filter, by which time the Brita seems to be struggling. Whether you actually need to remove Antimony, Arsenic, Asbestos, Barium etc etc is perhaps down to your local water authority and how well they do that job for you.
You can find the explanation and full table of results on the ZeroWater website
The other unique feature of the ZeroWater system is the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Metre. This is a handy little battery driven gadget (included with the jug) that measures the TDS levels in your filtered water. So, unlike other systems, Brita included, this doesn’t rely on time passing to tell you when you need to change your filter. This simply tells you what the level of TDS is at any moment and the instructions tell you to change your filter when it gets to a reading of 6. I think that this is a rather neat system, as it means you change your filter from an informed place rather than just changing it every month or two by rote!
We are stocking two jugs that start at £29.99 for a 7 cup ( 1.7l ) size.
At £44.99, a hefty 2.8l or 12cup size that’s a bit of a beast to pick up when full , but handily has a tap that you can dispense from.
And then there’s even a 22 Cup dispenser (5.2l), the sort of thing you'd leave in place on your kitchen worktop, at £49.99.
The filters can bought individually at £19.99 or in a pack of three for £42.99.
The offer this weekend is buy any ZeroWater product and claim a 12% discount using code ZERO12.
That’s it for this morning I’m afraid,
I hope you have a peaceful and pleasant weekend.

Having said all this, it is by and large a pretty indestructible product, and unlike the nonstick alternatives, could well be a pan that you hand down to your children. I am a huge fan of the range, its quality is unsurpassed, as are its cooking abilities. An expensive but brilliant product.
***baked on pastry needs a few minutes soaking to make it a doddle to wash off, and their bread tins really shouldn’t be washed up at all. With them it’s best to leave a patina to build up, which gradually increases the release qualities
**** You can use Silverwood Roasting Pans and Trays on the hob to make gravy or just reheat, quite safely
The Offer
So, this weekend I’ll be offering you 20% OFF if you purchase 2 pieces from either Tala or Silverwood and you may mix and match, or mix and (not) match.
Please use code BAKE20 when shopping online, or just tell us who you are when coming into Cobham and Reigate.
I trust you have a pleasant and peaceful weekend.
Warm regards
Andrew
